So , I'm wondering what soft point bullets are you guys using for hunting for SKS and why ? I was buying the hornady .310 bullets , and can't seem to find any lately , what other bullet options would you guys recommend ?
Why not cast your own? Lee makes a couple molds .312 for the sks, 155 and 160gr. Not sure if water quenched wheel weights are hard enough for hunting but you could do a penetration test and see.
That way, you are never looking for bullets, if you need more just fire up the casting pot. I got tired of looking for bullets locally and everything being sold out.
I don't shoot the corrosive stuff either, just GC reloads over 16 grains of 2400 for a 100 yard target load.

Is the alloying a PITA for him?i'd love to cast my own , but I don't like round nose bullets , can you get molds for spire point ? Also want an unlimited supply of pure lead ? hit up the dentists offices, and med clinics , ask them for the Lead sheets they toss out after each x-raythey are 100% pure lead, and only need to be melted down and made into ingots , my buddy is a physiotherapist, and he does it this way for his lead , the clinics are just ecstatic that they can get rid of it to him and that fast

Is this meant sarcasticly or ? i'm only asking because I don't make bullets anymore and haven't in years ,i'd like to get back into it , Last I remeber you're supposed to get all the crap out of the lead, and start with pure lead, which is what he is doing , and not having any probs with it , just doesn't do it quite like the tutorial that Blacksmithden ? put out he uses the store bought setup , for small amounts and makes his own alloy and that was about all we talked about it. I might add I don't remember squat , it was like 30 yrs ago that I bought a little setup, and haven't done it since. Is the alloying a PITA for him?

This may sound a little off the wall but I also got tired of cleaning corrosive surplus rounds.
I'm sorry but this doesn't fly. It takes no more time and effort to properly clean your firearm from corrosive ammo than not. Perhaps some people should join the military and finally learn how to strip and clean a gun properly in a reasonable amount of time. People have fired milsurp ammo for years with no ill effect. I would never purchase a firearm from someone with this statement because they obviously don't understand how to care for a firearm or just too lazy to do it properly.
I apologize in advance for the rant, I'm tired of hearing this crap from people who think that corrosive ammo will hurt your gun, when they simply don't understand how to maintain and clean them.
