BAR 270WSM jamming

I recently purchased a Browning BAR Shortrac 270wsm.
I was sighting it in this weekend and it cycled the first two clips no problem.
Then it would not eject the shells after that, has anyone had this happen?

Cheap ammo?

I was using winchester power max bonded ammo.

Would it extract the round from the chamber? If not ejecting maybe dirty. Did you dismantle and really clean the action? Sometimes rust preventitive grease factory installed before shipping can prevent proper operation. If it is a new rifle cdontact Browning and see what they have to say.
 
no it would not extract from the chamber.
the gun was a demo from ellwoods, said that it had never been shot.
 
What about the bolt face and under the extractor? Anything stuck there? (dirt, grime, sometimes there will be a sharp edge on the slides and shave little bits of the casing off and push them back against the bolt face)

How far did it throw the empty brass before it started to act up?
 
everything seems to be clean in there, i didnt really pay attention to how far it threw the empties, maybe 5 feet beside me.

i will oil it and try some different ammo i guess.
 
Mannn, that sucks! Nuthin more disappointing after you get a new gun and have probs right away!!...I know!! been deer dun dat!I remember reading a long time ago that 75% of all extraction failures on semi-autos are due to heavily oiled, dirty, gummed, or rusted chambers. If the gun is leaving a mark on the case...it's "trying" to extract it....maybe try a light polishing of the chamber...use a long wooden dowel(longer than the barrel as you have to come in from the muzzle end)) thats been roughed up on the end((2-3 inches))....spin some #0000 steel wool onto the dowel and put into a cordless drill.....give it 4 or 5 good spins....3-5 seconds each time...work it in and out of the chamber area...try it out at the range again..you got nuthin to lose......hopefully it'll work....it has for me 10 or 12 times in the past. No brownings tho..couple of rimfires and the rest were Remi-Semi's....7400-742's...seemed to be notorious for it(but,mostly in older well worn guns and caused by uneducated neglect )...in your case I'm thinking more than likely packing grease left in the chamber or
"a wee bit of rust" in there....don't take much.....Best of luck!

WSM is high velocity , high powered loads = called HOT LOADS
Ask someone to look at it and reload some light loads for general target practise and scope sighting-in. Then you buy the ammo of your choice when going hunting , if you hunt.And shoot few shots and sight -in you scope for that spicfic load and that's all you need and enjoy the hunt.That's all you get out of a factory rifle.
If you plan to shoot it continously then let the breech and berral get cold say you are
shooting one round a minute.If you plan to shoot like a rambo , buy an SKS 7.62x39
 
Another detail you may want to consider if/when you start reloading is the dies. I recently acquired a Husqvarna in 270 Win and was fortunate to pick up a set of used RCBS dies locally. The label on the box states, SB DIE SET 270 WIN, group A Part # 13503. Curious as to what the SB stands for I contacted RCBS and apparently it stands for small base. The base is resized down just a little more, about 0.001" to improve the feeding reliability in semi autos. My next question is if this additional sizing down would adversely effect the accuracy in my bolt action and I was assured no.
