I like the Shadow... what other guns should I look at?

As the title says, I like the shadow, it just feels great in my hand. I also like the Wather P99, but the weight of the steel shadow does feel better.

What other pistols should I look at? I'd like to add a second gun to go with my Shadow. 9mm is a must for ease of ammo.

CZ75SA - wonderfull gun, got comp hammer and 13# main spring on mine, and FO front, tact. rear - great all around!!
With 9mm one you get to use same mags too!!
 
I like the shadow but prefer regular 75b - it's not as heavy and I actually prefer the regualr sights.

Other guns to consider are Beretta 92/90two, Sig 226, Hi power and 1911
 
Let me muddy the waters a bit. I really love my Shadow, and the more I shoot it the more I appreciate what a great gun it is. I too decided that my next gun would be similar, and in 9mm also for the same reasons as yourself.

After a lot of research I went for a M&P in .40. When looking I found that I would have had to have spent a lot to get something comparable to the Shadow, and actually I wanted something completely different (poly frame, etc ), not the same.

I also find I still shoot the Shadow the most, so the extra cost of the odd box of .40 is not that great. Next will be a 1911 or CZ97. I figure the same will be the case with a .45.

Then again, if you have tried the other options, and budget is not an issue, SIG elite, stainless.
 
if you like the weight, i'd say Beretta 92. if you are ok with something a bit lighter, then the Sig 226.

(or copies of either, like Taurus or Norc)
 
If you can, wrap your hands around an STI GP6. It has an even better single action trigger than the Shadow, and the gun really deals with the recoil well.

To tell you the truth I hear a lot about 1911's and how everyone needs to own one, but I am not sure I really know why or what it is?

I like the look of the beretta, but never had the chance to hold one. I'll have to track one down.

Sig 226, I'll have to try and shoot one here, feel nice just holding though.
Is the sig the popular movie/tv use gun?

I like the feel of the GP6, so does the GF, almost bought one for her but I was talked out of it by the sales guy, looked more at the hi power for her now.
Is there issues with the GP6 and its rolling barrel? Ive been told its not really an STI, thats why I kind of shy'ed away from it.
 
the infamous TV gun is the Dessert Chicken, usually in 44 or 50AE but with what seems like a 15-round capacity and no recoil. chrome, almost always.

I mean in shows like NCIS, CSI, and the like. Normal looking blued pistols with regular mags. and normal looking recoil for the most part.
 
dunno. i know that Criminal Minds uses Glocks, and Burn Notice uses a Sig. i'm sure Wikipedia or other online sources will indicate what those specific shows use.

The issue is it works like a hot damn. I'm a big guy, and 9mm is a light cartridge, but still in watching video of me shooting, the gun just doesn't seem to move. The slide slips back and forth, but there is next to no climb. In my opinion, the rotary unlocking of the barrel and the lack of the usual tipping of the barrel seem to smooth out the recoil impulse. Being a polymer frame, I expected the GP6 to have more percieved recoil than the Shadow, but shooting the two back to back with my ammo proved otherwise.

STI do not make the GP6. It's made by Grand Power of Slovakia. STI needed a gun to round out thier IPSC offerings, as they almost own Open and Standard division. The GP6 is an excellent choice for IPSC Production Division.

I've had mine 18 months without any issues. I had it's predecesor, the K100 for a few years before that. The guns work perfectly.

Since you have a Shadow, you want something shoot the same or even better, may be a Tanfoglio stock or stock two? but they are about the same design. Others mentioned 9mm 1911 would be my pick as well.

That is great to hear, I'll have to pick one up for the GF then. She liked the feel of it a lot. So that doesn't count as a second gun for me, right? lol

Tanfoglio looks nice, I'll have to track one down and see how it is.

Whats a good 1911 to look at? Or does it even matter?
