So tonight I'm out at the range, I haven't been in quite a while, and I am setting up with my 10/22 (modded but still has stock receiver). I load up my first 25 round mag and shoot off 2 rounds and then jam - one of the rounds is pinched coming off of the clip into the chamber. I clear the misfeed and check the bullet and it is sheared on the bottom side. This happens quite a few more times.

A friend of mine who is with me shaves off a bit of plastic from the top of the mag and this seems to help for a time - seems that the only way to get it to feed properly is to hold the clip with one hand so its changes the angle that the bullet is presented in the receiver (this only works some times). Also I notice that there is quite a bit of wiggle room for the mag in the receiver.

Anyone have problems like this or know if this is a common problem with the plastic version of the B.C mags?

I had similar problems years ago with the plastic ones.I switched over to the steel lips ones and never looked back.I have some new ones for sale if you are interested.:)

Going to try

Thinking that it might be the mag - going to try the same mags in a friends 10/22 and see what happens with his steel lips in my 10/22. Could certainly be a receiver or bolt issue but I'm not sure.

Either way any one know what would happen if i tried to order Tactical Inc mags into canada or if there is a Canadian distributor for Tactical Inc mags?

Even a BC steel lip mag can have issues. I've got 6 of the steel lip mags and 1 of them has an issue with improper feeding (it's like the internal spring isn't up to snuff or something and won't push the round up enough to be fed...I end up having to "smack" the mag after every round). The other 5 perform flawlessly. I should see if there's some kinda warranty on the thing...

Spray some silicone or dry lube in there.

mags

steel lips are the only way to go...i don't understand why they even sell the plastic one just a waste of money...mines collecting dust...you can get the tactical innovation mags from tuffer buffer

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback -- I'm going out nextweek to test out a steel lips in my 10/22. I'll test with the ammo I shoot and see what happens.

Worst case scenario i spend a 100$ and buy tactical inc gear from tufferbuffer. From what I hear i'll have a hard time bringing it back across the border if i order from the states.

I had the same issue on the both my steel lips when I first bought them. I was told by a few different people that they just need to be broken in. I have since used them quite a bit (probably 500-1000 rds through each) and the problem has seemed to gone away. But it was annoying for the first bit. Good to go now though

You can get the Tactical Inc. Polycarb? mags from tufferbuffer dot com.
Great guy to deal with, I recently got 2 of them and they've performed flawlessly, and are fully adjustable, You won't be sorry

If you can get your $$$ back for that mag, we sell the Tactical Innovations magazines for the 10/22. Pretty much the best 25 round mags for the 10/22 made. Totally adjustable for your 10/22, steel lips, and can be 100% disassembled for cleaning.

UPDATE: Went to the range today and tested - seems that I had some hyper-velocity ammo in my "mix" that would FTE or FTL. I was urged to test this by doing the following test
1) have a mag with a combo of ammo and see which ones Fail to Load and keep them aside
2) load a mag with the ones that fail to feed and see what happens on their own
3) load a mag with other ones and see if I can reproduce the problem

so the following happened - the gun consistently jammed using the higher velocity ammunition (perhaps its the slope of the bullet i'm not sure) this would happen within the mix or on its own.

the other ammunition mix would fire just fine with no hangups.

So good news is is that it is not the mag. Yippee.

I had a hotlips mag and you could actually move it around a bit from one position to the other, when it was inserted into the action. If it was'nt in the right position, then it would have all sorts of feeding and jamming issues, but if it was inserted properly then I had no problems.

The steel lips I own, would only click in and work in one position, so it never had any issues.
