Tavors arriving soon

Well I did have two and I only sold the one so I could afford to buy a HK G36K. ;):D

Wellll, alright then. Consider yourself redeemed. As if you cared to begin with ;)

pete, regarding swapping out the barrels I think there is some clause that if the barrel remains on the firearm for more then thirty days in MUST be reclassified as restricted...at least I THINK I read that somewhere here...don't quote me on that, and of course don't ask me about the logic behind it. Basically the way I see it, firearm is Non-Restricted, have long barrel in bush and either or at range.

Thanks bud!

Its not actually that complicated. If you change your firearm's barrel length so that it would be classified as restricted, you simply treat it as a restricted firearm, until you change it back to a non-restricted barrel length. If you choose to keep the short barrel on the firearm for more than 30 days than you simply call up CFC and let them know. They'll mail you out a new certificate for free and forward the file to your CFO. I think there would be an issue if you only have a PAL, and not a RPAL, because you would then be in possesion of a firearm you are not licensed to possess. That being said, there are not than many rifles in Canada, that are not already classified as restricted by name/type, that have quick change barrels or uppers where a person would be regularly swapping back and forth. I guess you could take your non-restricted Tavor, change out to the short barrel, and then go play with it off a certified range, however you are playing with fire. In the eyes of any police officer, who is not a gun weeney himself, the Tavor looks like it should be restricted in the first place. If you get stopped and try and pull the wool over his eyes, he is gonna dig and you'll get burnt. Be a responsible firearms owner and all will be fine.

Gotcha! Same deal as I was told about shotties. Thanks

Anyone get a tracking or ref# or had there order page on there site updated from back order :)

If you swap to a restricted barrel , do it at the range as your att won't cover transport un less you have it verified.

Not yet, mine was ordered April 21. so i Hope im not to far down the list.
I did see someone post that he got his tracking number in another thread.

I agree to be on the safe side.
Although my ATT does not specify which guns I can transport.

Ya my ATT doesn't specify which guns I can transport just all my restricteds. Not a big deal though I can simply swap the barrel at the range cause its easy to do and the optic for each barrel is zeroed for that barrel since the rail attaches directly to the barrel.

I think that the barrel that CanAm is selling is only the barrel (from my phone conversation with them over the phone). The mounting options have to be moved from one barrel to the other. That makes it a little more troublesome. I too was hoping for quick barrel changes, but it may not be in the cards. Because of this, I elected not to get it. Sure it's cool, but a pain in the ass. I had intended to keep a red dot on the shorter barrel assembly, and a 4x on the longer barrel. That's not going to happen though.

If I'm wrong, CanAm can chime in (in which case I'd buy the shorter barrel as well).

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but your ATT should state you can transport any restricted firearm for which you hold a valid certificate of registration. Therefore you should be able to change your barrel, transport the firearm as if it was restricted (i.e properly secured, reasonably direct, certified range, etc.), as long as you bring your non-restricted certificate for the firearm. If the rifle retains the barrel for longer than 30 days then it's status must be updated.

But on the side of the road it is hard to proof to a cop that you didn't chop the barrel yourslef and you only installed the shorter barrel this morning before you left the house. any discrepancies between the firearm and your certificate will just cause you extra hassel. ;)

This is the 380mm barrel as it comes:

Still nothing for me. Prolly payback for the scepticism I displayed during the last batch of Tavors.

Fine, I'll accept my punishment like a man.....:p

EDIT: Just found a message from Paul at CanAm from last night on my cell. He wants to talk to me about my order. I'll betcha I'm in trouble LOL

You definitely have some communications issues in your outfit. I called and specifically asked if this is what was coming, and was told NO. Judging by some of the other threads about comms lately, you have a problem there.

Had the gentleman on the telephone let me know what you just did, I would have bought it. You lost a sale, and my money went elsewhere.
