What game will you NOT hunt, and why?

If it's legal I'd hunt it. Not real keen on giraffe or rhino (just not enough of them in the wild) but anything with a free ranging and sustainable population is fair game.

If BC was concerned about the deer population they would not have expanded the hunting regs for deer (although they took ten days off the Dec bow only season in region 4...bastards).
BC is trying to get the numbers of deer down. They want more hunting of deer.

Bears for me, I've never tasted one I liked and I won't shoot one just to make a rug out of it. I'm mainly a deer/upland bird/turkey hunter that likes to pound coyotes the rest of the year.

Bears for me.

Grew up thinking of bears as being either garbage eaters at the dump, or a nuisance to be shot and dumped somewhere the smell wouldn't bother anyone.

Ate a fair bit of it that was shot out of our corn fields. Other people shot them. It was OK. Just no attraction there to get worked up about for me.

Cheers

There is a video I've seen where a whale washed up on shore, and some "engineer" decided the best way to deal with it is to stack explosives on the shore-ward side of the critter and "blow" it back into the ocean to tow away...Didn't really pan out the way it looked on paper. The whale disapears in a huge cloud of red mist with chunks the size of a small car landing everywhere :D

Pretty funny, actually.

It's a tough question, I've hunted Grizzly and wont anymore, have a lynx don't need another. The hunt is the attraction and not the kill. Each fall I have a freezer full of goose jerky & sausage. I would love to go on another Moose or elk hunt. Conservation is the control of a population, sometimes it is best to kill a few for the betterment of the rest. Hunters are thus conservationists and working & paying for the betterment of all wild life. We pick and choose as we see fit. All is good. I will quite this now as it is starting to be a ramble :) . How many geese can you guys eat if you only kill what you can eat? You may need to go to NYC and help eat some.:p

Why not allow people to kill them as they see fit, so long as they use the carcass. There are lots of starving homeless that would benifit from a 10lb goose. Don't even have to pluck it, just like shrimp, peel, heat and eat. May not be a delicacy, but it would beat the #### out of scrounging dumpsters for leftovers (at least in my world)

if it lives i will kill it , for food, sport , or a trophy especially a trophy ! i just havent had enough time to scout and hunt but i have come very close to some deer by stalking and i hope to get one this season. I really want to go to africa , and other places around the world not just to hunt but to travel as well its two good things in one. I'd love a pair of lions mounted accenting my staircase !

I can't talk myself into hunting wolves,because
we had a wolf/German shepherd cross "dog" as a pet when I was a kid.
She was easily the smartest "dog" I have ever seen.
Smarter than a lot of people I've met come to think of it.

I won't go after anything I don't intend to eat. After that, protection or predator control. But just to say I've killed something does nothing positive for me.

Difference between myself and a PETA supporter is that I don't impose my opinion as being the gospel truth. I respect the decision & rights of those who trophy hunt etc.

Like others have posted, I eat what I hunt. That being said, I don't have a problem with pest control like gophers and coyotes. I could not bring myself to hunt cougars unless I was being hunted by a cougar,;)

I don't hunt migratory birds or Turkey. I have hunted them, but I am not big on the taste of most. I had some pretty strong duck, and I don't like turkey so they are out. Just about anything else is fair game.

I don't/won't shoot a songbird. I couldn't shoot a primate of any kind (chimp, gorilla, etc) unless I was defending myself or my family. Anything else is fair game. I'd love to shoot any dog or cat I find in my yard, but I can't cause I'm in town.

Only thing I haven't killed in the wild yet is a calf-moose, can't bring myself to do it, but I've made away with everything else thats here in the wilds of NFLD. Cheers.

I'd kill anything in self defence. i only hunt for food though. not into the gopher thing and squirrels i find too funny to shoot. coyotes are fair game though.

honestly, i don't really like the killing part of hunting. i find it a sad moment that to me is just a means to an end. maybe i've gone syrupy.
i love being outdoors though, especially with a gun, and i think hunting for food is a very natural thing to do. i hunt because i like game meat and enjoy the outdoors. and heck, buying meat at the grocery store dosen't make anyone less of a killer. if you eat meat you helped kill it in my eyes. shooting it yourself is just owning up to it and being aware of what it means to put food on the table.

Nothing against people who hunt for the thrill of the kill though... it's just not in me.
