I'm thinking of buying one of these pistols and would appreciate comments from anyone who owns one now or has owned one on the pros and cons of this S&W pistol. Thanks.

I've had mine for about a year now, and for me it has everything I want and nothing I don't. Magwell, ambi safety, nice sights and even nicer wood grips, and front strap checkering. Some may say you could buy a cheaper pistol and do these things yourself, but I don't think you'd be any further ahead. I've had no FTF or FTE. I use it for IDPA when I'm not shooting .45 and it works flawlessly.

Would I do it over again, yep. If I remember right, it came with 10 round Wilson Combat mags. These worked great so I picked up a 1/2 dozen more. It's nice to see a factory gun come with quality mags.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi Klondiker,

Thanks for your useful comments, which are pretty much in-line with those other shooters have made. The only "negative" comments I've seen are about the trigger not being up to snuff due to excessive lateral play (rattles if gun is shaken) and the slide stop tends to scratch the frame after only minor use. Did you experience these problems? Cheers,

C

I suppose there is a bit of play with the trigger. I never really noticed until your post. I checked my kimber and there's a little with that one but not as much as the S&W. I've got a colt with a bit also. More than the Kimber, less than the S&W. It isn't something I'm too concerned about though. Still shoots better than me.

On my pistol there is a little marking on the frame from the slide stop, but nothing out of the ordinary. The rest of the finish seems to hold pretty up good. It's been in and out of the leather holster more times than I can count and the slide and trigger guard don't show any signs of wear.
