Hope this isn't a re-post, Thought this was a really cool old vid that gives a good run down on the M14!! kinda wish i had seen this before i had started goofing around with the rifle.

pull out your fm23-8 and look on page 40 and all will be revealed- if you can't be bothered, it's cartridge 7.62 nato dummy m63- and they're not wedges but indentations- the camera makes them look like wedges- the theory behind that is so you can tell the dummy from the "real thing" by FEEL
