Hey there , just was thinking about something and i dont know if it really applies to most people however i figured why not just ask.

Currently my m14 is my SHTF rifle as its easy to maintain / take apart / shoot and reload . however i have not seen many people running a 3 point sling or even 2 point slings .

Is the m14 just too big to be shoulder correctly with these slings or too long ?

I currently am trying the usgi sling that comes with the rifle but being 6'3 and 250 its not exactly easy to maneuver

I had a 3 point on my and it's the only way to fly with that rifle as far as I'm concerned

I have a tactical sling that allows me to carry it out front, hang it across my chest, or hang it out front, muzzle down and to the side. Fast to raise and fire, secure while bushwacking, hands free to deal with other matters.

what's it called and where can a guy pick one up?

Safari Sling. I bought mine in the states at Sportsmans Warehouse, but I see Cabellas US has it listed on their website catalogue.

I can't find the old package, but its called a "Boonie Packer Safari -Tac Sling". Reasonably priced, like $25 or less, made from black nylon.

Rats, I wanted to buy two of these.
It doesn't look like the one for sale at cabellas is the same tac sling you have. The cabellas one is 2" wide, the tac sling is 1" wide and reviews say it works much better.

The only place I found online to purchase the 1" Tac sling is MidwayUSA and they won't ship outside of the US.

I really like the Turner Sadlery All Weather Sling. It is a WWII military reproduction sling and the toughest sling you'll ever own. I buy the 54-56 inch strap length in black. Looks great, works great on the M14.

I had a Specter Gear 3 point sling when I had my Norc and I was quite happy with it.

I still have Specter Gear 3 point slings on my AR-15, CZ 858, and Remington 870.
The emergency release buckle is a nice feature if you want to transition to your
weak hand or go prone.

I just picked up a spectre gear 3 sling for this rifle but another issue has arisen . Has anyone ever managed to get one of these to fit around the UTG tri rail ? .

I took off the side rails because im not using them at the moment however the velcro just attaches to the other side of the sling by about 1/2 inch . Will this cause the velcro to wear unevenly or possibly even fail if not fully attached .

Is there really that much height difference between the utg rail and the stock handguard ?

I have a specter 3 point system, I am happy with how it works and the quick release is a very nice feature. I like how you can wear the rifle like a backpack.
