Service Rifle Chickens

...You are always paired up on the mound so just ask questions and there will be no need to worry....

I had a lot of fun last year, but this particular statement does not reflect my experience. I hadn't shot past 200yd with my rifle and had a difficulties getting on paper as the time was limited and the team beside me had their own match to shoot so couldn't always spot my rounds. The scope I was using has since been replaced with a KAC 2-600m buis which I intend to use well before another SR match.

Hear hear! :D

Hey, we still have a hard time peeling the black rifle owners (in the GTA... Greater Moronto Area) from their mirrors.

My challenge is the have them come out and stress their expensive rifle systems in competition(s). I hear ya , brother! :)

Barney

As soon as I can arrange things, I'll bring my Swiss Arms to a Service CQB clinic.

Alright lets look at the costs:

rifle - you probably got one
ammo - around 150 rounds per shoot - 300ish...I'm sure you have that many kicking around

Nope :(

BCRA membership - first timer its $30.00
Lower Mainland shoot - May 8 - $25.00
BC Championship shoot - June 5 - $25.00

Fun meter - off the peg!!!

I'm doing the basic costs here...it can go up if you get a paid marker ($35) but its pretty fun to mark targets in the butts and hear the bullets wizz over your head.

I do this at work atleast once a year for PWTs

Also you can do a walk back ($10) and that'll give you your scope comeups for each of the ranges from 100m to 500meters.

No scope. I'm an old fashioned iron site guy.

I've been shooting SR since 2004 and know the regulars pretty good. There were quite a few new guys yesterday and talking to them they ALL said that at first they were nervous but it was a LOT OF FUN!!!!

To shoot SR pay your BCRA dues, send in your entry fee early to get the discount and just show up. LISTEN carefully to the guys in charge and you'll be fine. Plus a lot of guys are so willing to help out the new guys. You are always paired up on the mound so just ask questions and there will be no need to worry.

To find out whats goin on look in the SERVICE RIFLE SECTION. All the info is there.

Ante

Maybe next year...

Or can't bring yourself to do all the necessary reloading........

I'm one to talk....:D....I'd probably be found most guilty of that, myself.....:)

I slowly acquired the necessary stuff: press, dies and brass. But then the price of metals and propellants shot up.

Maybe next year.

Oldsmobiler, you shooting with iron sights on your LRB?

Nope....M25 ;)

Just need to take some updated pics. This is the only one I have right now. This was when it was boxed up and sent to a licensed gunsmith

Hey Satain ask Swampy what barrel he has in the closet ;)

The Crazy Horse wannabe in the safe is going back to stock like Sparrow. Bought a Fajen walnut stock years ago and with the fresh parkerizing on the metal parts it looks AMAZING! Got a set of .595 NM hooded sights going on it so it'll be my fancy shmancy irons shooter with handloads LOL!

Hey Satain when the F are you coming out with me to Mission to strech the legs of that pig of yours?

Perhaps, maybe....an ultra rare......Crazy Horse......

Yes.......that was 1 of 3 CrazyHorse Barrels to come to Canada.........;)........I had the second S.E. CH barrel on my Sage DMR clone........:D........shouldn't have sold that one.......:(

Hang on to that Barrel Bro..........save it for that Special build.......:D

According to Ron Smith "one that should have NEVER fallen into civilian hands either!"

He was pissed that they somehow "grew legs and walked out of his shop" but was glad mine was being used to smoke badguys - even though the badguys are paper Hun targets :D

I've wanted to do service rifle for a while now but WAY too much work on my plate to do much else right now.
I'm going to stock up on ammo and get another rifle built and hopefully join the fun next year.
congrats on the trophies Ante, I know you been waiting a while to get that girl out competing. ;)

Why is it I'm ALWAYS begging you guys to come out and none of you ever show up! Gotta work on my positions - sitting and kneeling....prone I have that one down pat

If you guys are scared to look dumb or not do well there are LOTS of guys there to help you out

Well there is the reason I don't come out, can't shoot kneeling, sitting (cross legged on the ground, from a bench no problem), or prone. I could shoot sitting, but only sitting as it would take everything to get into that position, and to get back out, would be the end of my shooting day anyway. That is really the reason I don't come as I don't want to look dumb, but as for shooting, if I can see the target I will hit it.

Hear hear! :D

Dad and I would love to come out Hungry but those positions are going to kill me. Shooting at Borden isn't a problem since we are already used to going to Barrie twice a month for Cowboy. I hear that CQB thing which also uses a handgun is better for not having to get into positions I would find difficult. PM me if you like.
