INSAS review: it's worse than what you read on the internet!

Great article, I did not know it borrowed so much from the FNC.

I am not surprised on the QC on those things, they should have stuck to buying Chicom Type-56s and called it a day. Even the Pashwar home brew creations are better quality than this.

A very nice tchnical and parts showing of the rifle.
I am really stunned by the quality control. I hope it gets better.
The difference in finish between the RFI and the SAF factories is amazing.

I'ld like to see a shooting report for accuracy and reliability, as well as ammo and magazine reviews. Are the magazines STANAG? Makes you wonder about the Omani buy of these rifles?

What a shame.

How much do they cost? The RFI, obviously, not the SAF.

He did say that it shot accurately and reliably. With some aftermarket parts (receiver cover, handguards, maybe an AR-15 magazine mod like they have for 5.56x45 SAIGA rifles?), it could be interesting.

Friends who played with them overseas described them as being "not a real battle rifle..."

Looks like the real problem is the "bling" factor, hang a bunch of neat, but useless accessories onto a rifle and expect it to still work when assembled by semi-unskilled workers...

If they dumped (or properly heat treated) the grenade cut off, got rid of the forward charging handle, switched to reinforced mag-lips, added functional AK or Galil style front furniture, they'd probably solve most of the problems.

No disrespect  , but what were they comparing it to?

Pretty much everything ever made...

Extensive experience with the AR/C/M16 FOW, AK FOW, CETME/G3 FOW, FAMAS, SAR80, FAL FOW, AR18, K2, Type 81 FOW, SA80 FOW, AUG, ect....

When it's compared negatively to the SA80 you have to know it's hurting...

But they probably didn't know what they were talking about....

For familiarity's sake, they should have made an IMBEL MD2 clone, this way they get to keep the carry handle, FAL parts and controls, and already in 5.56x45.

All they needed to do was to chop up some old FALs or continue with what toolings they had for the FALs.
