Just went to the local sprawlmart and picked up a box of el cheapo winchester .22lr, 36 gr., plated hollow point, 1280 fps. One of the few varieties I have yet to try. Any good?

If it's in silver box and Expert HV, they are not plated and are not very good to say the least. Dynopoint is plated and comes in white box, those are better.

Great little gun....I have 2 of them. gophers beware to 100 yards or better. The extractor can be replaced easily. After a several thousand rounds, they do eventually wear out. I only use Winchester 333s in my gopher guns and have not as yet had a FTE with the ammo. Some federal brands did not act right( FTF and FTE) in some of the rifles.

I use the same ammo but in the 555 packs. Works great in all my .22's, including 2 Ruger 10/22's, Savage bolt, Henry lever, many Cooeys, Rem 597. Hits gophers hard and does some nasty damage- they have a really nice deep hollowpoint. I find them to be quite clean and accurate to boot. I've gone through 3 bricks this summer of this ammo and have had maybe 2 duds in total. I liked it enough to 'invest' in 19 bricks of it at $19.97 a pop.
