Hi Guys I am having a hell of a time trying to remove the A2 bird cage flash hider from my new Tavor short barrel. Any ideas on how to make it easier. I already marred the damn finish on the barrel from trying to do it with wrenches.

If you take the barrel out of the receiver it will prove far easier, there is more for a padded vise to grab on to. Trying to hold onto a round barrel without a barrel vise makes it just about impossible to stop it from moving when applying any force!

Make a barrel block by drilling a sligtly smaller hole in a piece of hardwood. Apply a touch of rosin and use a strong vise. That will hold the barrel allowing you to apply adequate force on the wrench.

Is there a pin in the FH by any chance?

Here are some pictures with the A2 flash hider. I am trying to put my AAC blackout 18T on it.
The AR 15 is a Colt LE6920

How long can he leave that short barrel on there before he has to re-register the gun as restricted?

Whatever the ar-15 uses.

So it uses 1/2"-28 tpi thread? I sure hope so that is what my AAC blackout 18T is.

Less than 30 days. I actually already switched back but I am waiting on my Dlask rail right now should have been here today but I check the mail box and no slip :(.

Standard AR15 muzzle thread is 1/2-28 UNEF.

If you can't spin the flash suppressor off by hand, they are either welded on or you are doing something wrong. Put some stank into it. There is a "nut" behind the flash hider that is tightened against it to index it, be sure you are turning the flash hider one way and that nut the other.

If you are trying to only turn that back "nut" you will get no where. I understand this advice seems pretty stupid and common sense, but I've come to realise that most gunnnutz are border line retarded.

I would be one of those. :D

I'm not claiming expert knowledge here, but I'd be surprised if you could legally install a restricted length barrel on a non restricted firearm for even 2 seconds and have it be OK. I don't think it's the same as modifying a restricted firearm, such as an AR, to some slightly different configuration, but still restricted, and having 30 days before notification is required.

... and my faith in humanity has crumbled once again.

Well my lack of brains is behind me. Behold short barreled Tavor with AAC blackout 18T. Now if only they would legalize silencers again this rifle would truely be complete.

My dlask extended long rail for my non res barrel came in yesterday as well. So the ACOG is mount on it. Just need to sight each barrel/optic combo in now.
