Alright You Buggers, Here It Is - Back from Zimbabwe - Continued in Post 42

I'm in the middle of a move right now so once I get settled at the new abode I'll put up soem more story and pics. Gotta show everyone the baboon, impala and the special guest from the last day!

I'll also figure out what the total was for the hunt and post a breakdown as soon as I get the final bill from Chifuti.

Are you sending trophies straight home, or getting them done there?

From Taxidermy Rates, June 2010.
Since you're in Saskatchewan I would suggest talking to Rion White at Orion Taxidermy in Moose Jaw. I've seen a ton of his work and he will be taking care of anything I bring back from Zimbabwe this year. My folks drove down there to meet him and they said he was a really nice guy and spent a lot of time with them showing them around and talking over our African trophies. They'll be headed back later this month to see some African stuff that he was waiting on. He went to RSA with a friend of mine a few years ago and took a ton of photos so that he would get everything right. Attention to small details makes all the difference and when it's going to hang on your wall for many years you had better be happy with it!

Chifuti advised that they're having good success getting trophies out of the country fast. They expect about 90 days to have the skins and skull sdipped and packed and sent out.

cbabes - I'm neither rich nor retired. Hell, I don't even work in the patch! But if you're smart about your spending (lay off the meals out, trips to the bar and unnecessary new clothes) and take advantage of a few tricks (get a Visa that gives you points, not air miles or anything specific to one airline or "alliance") you'd be surprised how fast you can come up with $20K. I'd be willing to bet that most guys could sock that much away in 4-5 years without even trying hard. Maybe even less depending on how hard core you can be.

You have a point. I guess it's the guilt factor I would have. That 20 grand would have to turn into another 20 for my wife and then I would have to feel that my kids have everything they need/want before I did something like this for myself. :bangHead:
