T3 vs A7 vs M70 Featherweight(new)

Nice lame excuse try. That's like saying that Savage owners are better shooters. ;)

.

The only "S" word that is acceptable on this thread is Sako...haha

I looked at two Featherweght's today and one'f fit was better than the other. Both looked great, nice balance.

Keep the opinion's coming.

+1 for the Winchester Model 70- I don't like the looks or plastic parts on the other two. I'm sure that any of the choices listed will be sufficiently accurate for the intended purpose.

If you're going to go Sako, step up to the 85.

It may be possible that Im a bad shot behind the Winchesters but an excellent shot behind Tikka's...How does that work

I have seen a Tikkas that wouldn't shoot either(some were the shooter some were not). I guess there are a few bad apples from every company...

Tikka's are still ugly even if they do shoot good :p :D

I have 2 New Model 70 FW. A .270 win Featherweight deluxe and a .308 win Featherweight. Accuracy is EXCELLENT, no problem getting MOA and better groups with handloads.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there's absolutely no comparison possible between a Win FW and a Tikka T3 Hunter.

You're right we should not compare an accurate rig such as a Tikka to a hit and miss Winchester.
Winchesters would be such nice rifles if they could group once in while. Maybe going Bankrupt will smarten them up. :)

I hear those Winchesters have bad barrels.

I can't comment on the A7, but I have a Model 70 FW classic in 308win and it is a beautiful gun that fits me perfectly and shoots so well with factory ammo that I have never tried reloading for it. I also have two Tikka T-3 Lites, one in 7mm-08rem and one in 243win and both shoot really well. I have had Tikka's with the wood stocks also and they shoot really well.

If the Model 70's came with a detachable mag I would never look at another rifle for hunting, they have great triggers, field strippable bolt, 3 position safety, nice fine grip with just the right amount of sweep for shooting from hunting positions and have fine accuracy. All that being said, mine sees little use as I always grab the Tikkas or my Rem pumps as they both have DM's.

I know it doesn't make any sense but I find it a royal pain in the arse dropping all those loose shells out and then reloading them, especially when the weather is misearable and your hands are wet and cold.

So if the detachable mag isn't a concern for you the Model 70 FW is the way to go in my opinion.

Good luck.

The only reason winchesters are not consideredas accurate is because of a few bad groups, but do you know how hard it is to shoot a tight group when chuckling at the guy with a bag on his head shooting a tikka?:p

To be serious though i have had a few people say their rifles were not as accurate as other types but these rifles all seemed to shoot fine as soon as someone else tried them.

Also i have seen (inaccurate) tikkas that would shoot 2''-3'' groups at 100 with different shooters trying the same gun.

Personally though i never tried these rifles as i could never adjust to having a bag over my head and shoot well.:p

Okay, I'm a fan of my Tikka, but I gotta admit... That there was funny.

And, as for the bag on my head, I just cut eye-holes. Seems to work well enough, since my groups are tiny.
