Alberta - Is RAMP Dead?

It's great news, but I'll celebrate when it's officially written down and publicly announced.

Ted Morton still has control of the province's purse strings, and given his obsession with RAMP and obstinate attitude since the start, I don't see him giving up on this without a fight.

I think both he and the new SRD minister are not ideologically opposed to the idea - or other forms of the comercialization of wildlife....

If he needs to move shells to save his brainchild you can be sure he is doing just that.

He may have run out of runway to get it off the gorund - let's hope so.

LOL...not ideologically opposed....I'd say more like supportive. Last time I heard Knight speak he couldn't wait to hand game farming over to agriculture so farmers could get on with the business of raising and selling hunts for captive ungulates.

Has anyone tried to contact Chapman regarding this RAMP rumour?

Yikes, I sense some hostility here. I wasn't aware that I brought a rumour forward. I just passed along what Knight said at a public meeting. I'm just adding some info to a discussion.......sorry it offended you but it's what he said.....:) Have you contacted Chapman about the RAMP rumour? I really hope it's true but this is an issue that has been rife with rumour and misinformation. Like Waxy, I won't celebrate till I see it in writing.

No hostility at all. Actually quite the opposite.

I was not at the meeting where Mr. Knight was said to have issued this information - so to hear it from you it would be a rumor until it were substantiated with the source is all. If you have that source I would appreciate you passing it on, if not I can do some digging on my own.

As far as contacting Chapman - it is sort of like asking the flunky that sweeps the floor at Wholesale whether there is a discount on volume purchases of ammunition..... :) He may very well be one of the last to know correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't he on contract to administer the abortion (RAMP)?

There has indeed been a fair amount of misinformation on the subject from its inception Sheep - but through the whole process it seemed to largely stem from the Government not wanting the information out there, not to mention the efforts of many to bog the discovery as tidbits were uncovered.

Appreciate you taking the high road on this thread thus far.

Despite the attempts of one multiple-profile poster, it's the road I plan to stick to. This is too important of an issue for childish games. I have contacted Chapman and await his reply. I'll let everyone know if and when I hear something. I figure it can't hurt to ask........

WTF?

It is an important issue Sheep - that is why many of us have been entrenched in it since we caught wind of it. We learned a long while ago that there are certain venues that leak info - others that try to suppress it.

Emailed and so far no response. Also sent to Jim Allen and Deryl Empson Acting Assistant Deputy Minister Fish and Wildlife Division.

thanks for the update Bubba - I had the same response from Chapman - none.

I am betting it would take him a while to dig out from the responses he has, but I am betting he knows less than we do.

I actually reported it this morning to the administrator but I guess in fairness I should say I'm pretty sure as I don't have access to the IPs but on another site where this individual has had in excess of 20 profiles, I haven't been wrong about this individual yet so I suspect I'm right here as well. I'm sure you'll look into it....thanks! I can PM you the details if you like.

Now, back on track with RAMP....hopefully Grant answers one of us soon....it will be interesting to see what he or another government official has to say.
