so i just passed my test today and am getting ready by filling out the info on the forums to send in. it's on section "E and F - INFORMATION ABOUT CURRENT
AND FORMER CONJUGAL PARTNERS"

i'm not 100% sure on the following statement,

Conjugal partner includes spouses and common law
partners and all other persons with whom you live or have
lived in a similar relationship within the last 2 years.

i take that to mean people who i'm dating and not other family members.


sorry for the silly question, just don't want to mess up my application.

Yes, it's people you're dating (and living with), not other family members. Unless you're dating your family members... but we won't go there.

I got my RPAL right after a breakup with my girlfriend of two years. I had a few complications with getting my license because of it. In the end, the lady at the CFC told me "If you didn't live with them or anything, then it doesn't really matter."

So if it's just some breakup with a non-serious relationship, then you can go ahead and say no. Just be sure your references don't contradict you.

If you do check off yes, don't forget to write up a letter about it. That's what I forgot to do, had to fax in a letter because of it.

That whole part of the form is very silly, despite the bureaucratic format of the form, you have to write a letter about the failed relationship. Everything about it so vague and contradictory.....

It not only silly, its probably illegal. Because the answer to the question reveals your ###ual orientation. It is a very invasive question.

So how can we use this to get rid of that paragraph in the application. I was filling out my Pal/Rpal appys last night and the only thing bothering me is the fact that they could be delaying the application approval just based on this one irrelevant point (I don't know the whereabouts of my separated wife, maybe another country too ). I know it's a bit late for me but maybe we can help out others. I'll be writing a letter explaining what happened even though I feel that it is total invasion of privacy, since it's none of their business to know why the relationship didn't work out, nevermind judge my ability to have guns based on it. A police check should be sufficient, non-violet history, no domestic disturbance calls even that still being nosy if none of those calls resulted in charges being laid or restriction orders filed.

Good question. The gun orgs seem uninterested. Perhaps if a ###, lesbian or bisexual shooter were to file a complaint with one of the HRC's it might get some traction.

so if I'm reading this correctly, if your dating and not living with them they don't count

that applies to having a mistresses, because your not living with her

Rogers Cell is being sued for revealing details of several couple elicit affairs, usually by sending bills to the wrong address and/or after bundling services.

Its possible that the CFC could just as equally compromise or reveal a relationship when doing their due diligence. Ironically, the person most needing "safety" after that point is the applicant...
