So I got my Norinco 1911 Sport today.
Looks nice. I took it apart and cleaned all the packing grease / oil off -wipred it down, and lubed it up.

The only thing I have a problem with is my magazine doesn't seem to pop out.
I press the mag release - and it pushes out about 2cm - but doesn't fall out of the gun.

Is this something I can expect to happen with age - because I don't really like the idea of having to physically pull the mag out manually.

I have cleaned up the mags and mag well.

Any ideas?

try fully removing the magazine, then putting it back in, a couple hundred times. Should help. Oh, you might as well load and shoot it while you're at it :)

Check the mag to see if there are any rub marks on it. If so there is something inside the frame that is a little tight & prevents the mag from dropping freely. Not uncommon especially on Norincos.

You can either try to see what is catching & smooth it down a bit or try the other suggestions.

Normally the mag catch won't completely retract, which drags on the mag body - the culprit is grit, inside the mag release assembly.

I had the same problem with mine using the norc mags. Just grab some better mags I got some stainless ones from Dlask for 18.99 each and never had a problem with them.

besides the sticking mags, I am satisfied with it.
I am also going to order some mags and see if that solves the issue.

usage will solve the issue.....also, disassemble the mag release and clean or use fine wet\dry sandpaper to smooth it out (the portion that is inside the firearm). solved my issue immediately

The oversized magazine release button may be the culprit. Unscrew the button and give it a try.

I replaced mine with a standard sized magazine release button and not more trouble with magazines not dropping free.

There was a guy on the range next to me with once of the new Norcs 1911, second shot and that thing jammed, I guess all those stories about the new ones are much better are not true after all.

could be him, ammo etc.....seems everyone blames the gun first....

I find the spring pushes the follower forward in cheap mags and it sticks in the back of the trigger slot in the frame..Try this put in mag press mag release it will stick.. Pull mag out now with your thumb press the follower to the back of the mag insert mag and press the mag release if it slides out its the cheap mag . This happens with both my colt and norinco with cheap mags. With the wilson combat ones they drop to the floor :)

I've had my Norc Commander 1911 since 2000 and have yet to have a jam.

Cycles flawlessly.

I have 2 Norcs, one type 54 which I did some minor polishing of the feeding ramp and it is a great little gun since, love my NP-28 too but the previous owner spent some bucks for improvements.

But I also had a NP-20 which I didn't like because of the design and it was my jammomatic with any type of ammo, bought it for $120, sold it for $150, I just didn't like it enough but I am sure that a bit of love would also help that one.

:D
