I've noticed on crates of surplus 7.62x39 they have markings Fe/Fe and some have Tbpl/Fe

whats the difference?

Asked this in an ammo thread and no one responded.

I was at whole sale sports the other day, and i asked about soft point and he said they have soft point surplus...does this exist? I thought it was all FMJ.

and i'm just using this ammo for target shooting, but is one cleaner than the other? more acurate or is it mainly aesthetics.

I'm not 100% absolutely certain, but my guess is there are more incompetent clerks in gun shops than military surplus soft point ammo. Mostly because military ammo has to be FMJ by law.

they dont have surplus hunting rounds, but they probably sell sellier & belliot or some other brand which is basically the surplus cartridge with a hollow/soft point bullet on top

as far as the Fe/Fe or Tbpl/Fe shooting cleaner, they are both messy, but so cheap i love em
i found the tbpl/fe took a patch or two less to buff up the barrel

almost sorry to rag on you but, do you seriously take advice from these guys???
2 guys ive heard have walked outta there without showing pal for crates of ammo, ive personally walked outta there with a box of 250rds of shotgun shells - not being asked for a pal, not very smart on thier behalf
one guy didnt understand what a "combo shotgun" was
another picked out some shotgun powder for me to reload rifle shells when i asked some advice on powder
im not a wealth of firearm knowledge myself but i know alot more than all those guys combined
then again they have lots of firearm experience,,, selling ammo at wally-fart

LOL not at all, I go in and I'm browsing and all they do is try to sell the flashiest shiniest etc rifles to me.

I was astonished that he though they had crates of soft point; in fact he walked me over to the stack of crates and was trying to find it in there.

Which prompted my question to all of you.

(Who presumably have much more experience than me.)
