Now to find time to actually take it to the range and try it. Or for that matter find the time to fondle it properly.

Intial impressions:

1. It's not as hideous in real life. Don't get me wrong, it's ugly, but it's sort of like the Sean Penn of guns. So ugly it's charming.

2. Heavy and long trigger. I have to try it, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to come up with a way to fix that. I'm suprised they don't come up with an electronic trigger for bullpups with a manual backup of some sort. That'd solve it. This trigger, at least initially, feels nasty.

3. It's short. I'm suprised how short it is. I really like it.

4. As a result of the rearward weight it feels very odd, and the ergonomics are going to take some getting used to. Still working out how to hold things, change mags on the go etc.

5. My friends are all jealous. I like that. Even one with a Swiss Arms. ;)

If that is the "Sean Penn of rifles", it needs to be set up at 100 yards and shot at by respectable guns! Extremely poor choice of words, old chap! :)

I wouldn't sweat the trigger on that thing either just yet either. That bald headed furly on Future Weapons was making head shots with his at 300m. That isn't a bench rest rifle; some guns should be accepted for what they are, IMO. To me the Tavor is the state of the art for bullpups, and I am extremely jealous too! I hope you will post pics and a range report?

I'm noticing a lot of posts from people who received their Tavors.

What happened to all the people #####ing the Tavors aren't coming and CanAm was robbing people?

The trigger mod involving removing the spring in the hammer assembly improves the trigger dramatically.

See: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248313

Pull the spring off with a set of needle nose pliers and then remove the roll pin that retains the other end. Save the spring, just in case. The roll pin should come out with moderate pressure from a punch. Lubricate the hammer assembly lightly and you should be good to go. As for the trigger reset, mine has not been effected. No trigger that I'm aware of wil reset with the trigger fully depressed, so of course you will have to relax the trigger to allow it to reset, like any other trigger. My trigger weight was reduced from a heavy 12 lbs, to a moderate 8 lbs with this mod. It is also smoother.

Shoot and enjoy, even with the red dot, or should I say orange dot mepro light.

To quote bad japanese computer failure haiku, "I am the blue screen of death".

I'm thinking of getting one... The opportunity has presented itself... Can't really afford one but damn they're sweet!!! Might be a proud owner by the end of the week.... Maybe... Hmmmmmmm....

I enjoyed shooting mine as well last weekend, but I hate the trigger. As I posted in another thread, wayyy too much creep. Not too crazy about the M-21 either, the bullseye is blurry. Not right for what's supposed to be a "quality" optic.

I got mine last week and I've shot it twice now. I removed that extra spring and the trigger pull is a lot better. I handles really well since it's so light and small.

After taking my new Tavor out shooting I understand why so many people want one. It is a very nice rifle but I don't know if it is really worth $3000+. I know that many people will disagree but the Norinco Type 97, in my opinion, actually feels better in the hand. The Tavor is not balanced as nicely as the Norinco and doesn't point as naturally as the Type 97 either. The Tavor is obviously the finer crafted firearm but it isn't 3 times nicer. Oh well, It's legal.
