I decided I wanted a custom rifle for coyote's and also for long range gongs. I always wanted a cartridge that wasn't that common, and I also wanted to do it on a cheaper budget as it is a coyote rifle. Well I got it back today.

Savage Model 11 with detachable mag
Timney trigger at about 1.75 lbs
Shillen matte barrel varmint contour in .220 Ackley 1-9 twist
HS precision stock in winter camo
Ken Farrel 20MOA base
Waiting on rings
Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44
Bedded and timed
Larger winter marksman knob

Mystic put it all together for me. The bedding looks great. No local smith wanted to tackle trying to make this feed. Mystic managed to get 4 rounds to feed like butter. I am super busy right now but will get better pics up once the scope is mounted and hopefully a range report will be not far behind. Big thanks to Jerry as he crushed local prices and the service put them to shame. I was also able to get dies, brass and everything else with out any issues. (like being told they don't make .220 brass anymore or that those dies don't exist :kickInTheNuts:

Glad you like how it turned out. Certainly had its challenges - stock fit, making it feed - but it was nice to get it all dialed in.

Now to see how much fire this puppy is going to belch???

I guess now would be a good time to plan for barrel #2 :)

Look forward to your range report.

Yes, I was wondering what the stock was from and what caliber detach mag was used as the basis for feeding.

We need more details! :D

HS stock in winter camo. Very nice outside, less then exciting insides.

But bedding got things where I like them.

A standard center feed 308 mag was modified and used. Started life as a generic 11FCNS Savage. A semi rimmed cases will not work in the orig mag - which is no fault of the mag as it was never designed for this. So some tweaking was needed.

The strong taper in the Swift would make stacking a real PITA but because an improved version was used, it stacks well with 4rds loading easily like any other 308 type case. The big thing is staggering the rims like you would with a Lee Enfield. Otherwise, jammo.

With the mag tweaked, and rims staggered, I was able to get it to feed just fine. Very pleased about that actually.

Going to be alot of very unhappy pooches this fall.

Roughly how much did this cost? I'm thinking of building a rifle on a Rem 700 action but not too sure. Pretty new to this game.

No optics roughly a shade under 2000. The stock,Trigger,Rail, bolt knob, and barrel are all a wash as they cost the same for a remington. I saved on the donor action and gunsmith costs.

Looks good...let see some targets!!

They will be awhile there is no 30mm rings within driving distance so I have to wait till they come in. I would love to do serious load development but I think it will just be fire form this winter and tackle the 75gr A-max next summer. Work has just been crazy. But you never know.

I loaded up 100 rounds to fireform the other day. I just picked a mild load of IMR 4064 behind some 50gr Barnes Varmint Grenade's that I didn't think I would ever use. I just used OAL for a 60gr bullet and slapped them together. I wasn't hoping for much with no load development. If I could get 1 1/2 groups atleast I could use them this winter for coyotes.

I got out to the range today and it was chillly and overcast with a breeze. It took three shots to get a close zero. Then I adjusted the scope shot a 3 round group, adjusted to fine tune the zero then fired another 3 shot group. so the bottom two targets are shots 4/5/6 and 7/8/9 out of this rifle. Squares are 1 inch shot at 100yards

I was quite surprised and it makes me want to get my but in gear and get going on load development with the 75gr A-max I plan to shoot.

Thanks Jerry :D
