Has anyone here tried this round from Armco? I just found out about it and am very intrigued! Curious as to what people who have shot it think.Should really make the 1911 a performer, and without any expensive customizing too.

About the .45-08.

A .45 cal. 200 grain bullet at 1500 fps is not too shabby.

Yes, I have brass, and I shoot this cartridge.

From Armco's site.

"The Armco .45-08 brass is back in stock This super-strong .45ACP brass is again available. Made right here from cut-down and neck-reamed commercial .308 brass, we have documented over 1000 ft-lbs of energy from a standard 5" barreled 1911! 200 grain bullets at 1500 seems to be all the primers will tolerate, and and deliberate proof-type overloads only generate a LOT of recoil and pierced primers. This is tough brass! Sold with a fact sheet/loading guide in 25-packs for $25 plus $4 shipping. Tax extra. Want to buy in "bulk", let's talk "

Hope that helps.

So can we just cut down our own 308's and do this? I was unaware that they were the same diameter... I just measured and .45acp has an outer dia of .477 and 308 has an outer dia of .467. Would you have cycling problems or is this really minor?

google 45 super, basically the same thing and you can buy Starline brass with the heavy web

The cases are not just cut down they are also machined on the inside.
