Well, I'm taking a gamble. The gamble is that there are enough company guns, government guns, and privately owned guns and enough people who hate cleaning their own guns in our little community of 800 to pay for a Crest F1436HT gun cleaning system over the next few years. I have a surprising number of folks already committed, and I'm hoping to get 100 guns per year. My cost including exchange, shipping, brokerage, and taxes will be about $12K, which includes the ultrasonic cleaner and enough solution and lube to clean 1000 guns. I'm going to attempt to recover my investment at a rate of $30/long gun and $20/handgun which should be cheap enough not to scare folks off. Worst case scenario, my guns will be clean!

Have you tried it on guns with painted markings, or worn enamel? (HK, SIG, etc). I am curioius if it would "clean" these off.

Wow, looks nice. I can think of quite a few things I wouldn't mind getting cleaned in there. Carburetors certainly come to mind.

I'm not sure. There's lots of of heavy equipment around here, so perhaps hydralic motors and other small parts that require rebuilding might work out.

Not yet, but I'll let you know, I hope to have some local SIGs to do, but this things not here yet. I bought some solution from Brownells and did a few handguns in my 3 litre ultrasonic cleaner that I use for brass. They turned out real nice and a couple of them were really badly fouled.

Apparently Glock endorses Crest if that means anything. One of the first guns I intend to try is a commerative 94 Winchester that I got in "well used" condition, and I want to see if the ultrasonic is hard on worn plating.

My ultrasonic cleaner has arrived and I hope to have it up and running by the weekend. With respect to painted, anodized, antiqued, worn, or damaged finishes, the manual suggests that these parts be cleaned at half power for 2-4 minutes.

I'm in the restoration industry and these are very popular units with for cleaning electronics and other items that are soiled by smoke/soot. If there are any insurance restoration firms that do work in your community they may subcontract some cleaning to you.

When yo come to the point where you need new solution look up BioSol. We use SurfiSol 315 and it works great. These things will peel paint quickly if it is not properly applied. They will also leave the marks of your basket embedded into the steel if you lay a receiver/slide/etc. on their side and clean them too long. For it to clean the best get the solution nice and warm.

Anyone ever experience the joy of inline 4 cylinder motocycle carbs? (left with gas...a decade before)

This rig'll clean 'em up in 24 hours with no damage to any rubber(depending on soloution). Mirror bright! (not too sure how applicable it is on Hudson's bay but, I know some people will ship 'em!Same thing must happen with sleds too!)
