Marlin X7 rifles do it again!

Might as well show how my marlin shoots! 7mm-08, 140gr sierra prohunters, win brass and and primers, 42gr varget(right) 42.2 (left).

Yup 100 yards, 3200 elite. Those were the first handloads I tried through the rifle. Needless to say I decided to call them "good enough". I use the 42gr load as my general purpose deer/coyote/target load, I find it consistantly groups under 3/4" at 100 yards.

Now, my moose/elk loads aren't quite as good, I'm shooting about 1.5" with the 140 gr TSX, which is good enough for a hunting load in my eyes, I'm sure if I put a little more time into them I could improve them as well, but they are only really going to be used on game, so they are fine as is for hunting.

I just wish Marlin would make one in .223, or if redoing the mag and bolt face is too much for the .223 then at least a .22-250!

You've owned five or them!
OK, now I have to ask: why so many? Are you wearing them out, or what?
Or do you really like them that much?:D

I really like them that much! I can own five of them for less money than two of most others rifles that don't shoot as well, or handle any better.

First one I bought was a 30-06, and it shot so well that I bought a 270, just to try it out. It was just amazingly accurate! Bought another '06 to rebarrel to 9.3X62. Then, I bought a 7mm-08 for my wife, and it was no surprise that it shot everything into less than an inch. Bought two more 270s this Spring, and gave one to the young son of a friend for his first big game rifle.

Actually, that is six I have owned! Sold one of the 06 with a Weaver K4 this past week, and one of the 270s was traded. Still have three. :)

You definitely can't argue with the price. All this chatter about the Marlins got me to thinking, so I went out and picked up one in .243 Win for $390.
It seems like a sturdy little gun that I can haul around and not worry if it gets a bit of wear on it, which is what a good rifle should be.
I'm just itching to get it out to the range to see how she performs.

Dragged home a 7mm-08 today, and some brass and Win760. Have some 140 TTSX's and GK's to load up, hopefully hit the range Sat. Seems like a decent piece, cycles pretty smooth and I don't mind the trigger system as I more or less learned to shoot on an Accutrigger (and still own a couple). Pull is decent, they say 3+ lbs is factory (in the manual) and that seems about right, very usable for me, though it is adjustable down.

$30 more than a Stevens but comes with a full length optics mount, if it shoots I'll be thrilled....and Marlin went to a realistic 9.5 twist as opposed to Stevens 11.xx in this caliber, which is much discussed I know but just dumb.

Debating whether to go grab some Devcon and bed it.....nahhhh I'll shoot it then decide.

This thread's not dead yet!

Took my $390 .243 Marlin XS7 to the range today, dropped on a Bushnell 3200 Elite 2 - 7 x 32 on it (No Bore sighting), fired a grand total of 32 100 gn.
Federal Soft Points, or Federal Fodder if you like. I finished the the day with my only three 200 yard shots that grouped at about 2 inches, maybe 1 inch
left of the bulls-eye. Damn I like this gun!:D

Indeed! It is simple to adjust, and works like a Glock rather than the Accutrigger. Virtually impossible to pull wo the shoe depressed. I have tried and had friend try to do it it just won't move.
