Yes the M41-A rifle from the Aliens movie was M1A1 Thompson with a shroud on it to give it that look. If a thompson was legal to own in canada, even in semi auto, I would be all over that. And yes there are a few different companies/individuals producing these shroud kits, primarily designed for the airsoft crowd and the replica crowd. I'm sure one could be adapted to an actual firearm. But of course the big stumbling block is the prohibited status of the thompson. Someone needs to make a gun that looks the same but operates different so we can get past the ban. Either that or come up with another firearm that's close enough that you could make it work.

The SWD M-11/9 is prohib up here as a variant of the Ingram M-10 and M-11. The closest non prohib we have that looks similar to the Ingrams would be the roughly dozen or so BXP's that made it in a few years back. I would not condone butchering them up, seeing how rare they are.

The smart gun should be fairly easy to make. If they can make "turrets" that can track targets, it shouldnt be too hard on a steadycam rig.
