I doubt you could find any stripped frame for less than you can buy a used Norinco 1911 for in the EE. Just a thought...
1911A1 frames...
+1 on that, for the most part....
If you watch the EE closely you can often get a fully complete, functional Norinco 1911A1 in the area of $325 [or less] shipped in nice shape. Here's an example:
That said, earlier this year I lucked out & scored a stripped Springfield Armory frame off the EE for $150....
And without much effort, built it into this:

Marstar has the stripped frame for $99.95.
Armco has the frame with ejector, plunger tube, and grip screw bushings installed for $120.00.
IMHO. a pretty good deal, and a good start for a custom pistol.
