Rare 1915 Ross MKIII sniper rifle ....

Badger:
this is truly a great find and I think its great that someone like you was able to save this piece from an estate sale which could of simply dismissed this for some common rifle. This is truly an important piece of our heritage.

DRM3M:
Thank you for sharing that great story, very interesting stuff. Looks like a good read!

Some comments regarding the Ross Rifle----excerpts from the book shown above.
I personally don't have an opinion as I am not very familiar with these guns.

It appears that the snipers did not all share the same negative opinion regarding this rifle.

I was wondering is the sniper on post# 10 by BadgerDog, second picture, the person on # 2 from left, bottom row is the Metis markman, Henry Louis Norwest, who before being killed by a German counter sniper, had 115 confirmed kills ?

I was admiring one of these Ross Snipers in the York Armoury a few years ago. You have a beautiful example there Doug. I'm very pleased that it is now in your possession and that you are sharing this piece of Canadiana with the rest of us. Thank You. Richard

Anyone know where I could lay my hands on an original "nominal roll" of soldiers to whom these sniper rifles were issued to?

Badger

Thank you .... :)

I'll order it ...

Anyone is there with initials "A.P." or "A.A." with any relationship to a Ross MkIII Sniper?

Badger

Apparently my wife is way ahead of me as usual ... ;)

She sent several emails to the author's web site contact address months ago and never got a reply to any of them ... :(

Perhaps I can find one at a gun show...

Badger
