Anyone know of the typical or recommendation modifications to this pistol.

Looking to enhance accuracy, reliability and overall functioning.

Its gonna be used for IDPA.

Cheers

Hi Matt

I would replace the front sight with a FO and the rear with a Novak style both are available through Ghost Products in Arizona. Replace the mainspring with a 13# or 15# mainspring. I had Ken Soucie install a competition hammer available from Ghost as well but it takes you into ESP.
If you don't replace the hammer and want to stay in SSP with the gun then have a good smith do a trigger job on it
You should be good to go.

Cool,

Initially I was planning on changing the sights...but I gotta shoot a few matches first. I'm pretty impressed with how small and accurate the night sights seem.

I might just go with the comp hammer as this will be my ESP gun anyways. Is the trigger job something I can do myself?

Matt to quote Ken Soucie, "If I install the competition hammer you won't need a trgger job". He did and with the way the hooks are cut on the competition hammer there is no need for a trigger job. You might want to have a 'smith install the hammer though. It may need a touch of fitting. I would really consider putting a FO front sight on the gun though. It makes a world of difference. Personally I think green is the best. I just installed a HighViz front sight on my M&P in green and does it ever make a difference.

I have skate board tape on the front and back of the grip on the frame to aid in tackyness. I would recomend for those hot days in July you get down your way.

If you haven't already bought a holster go with Bladetech and their mag holders.

ps You missed a great shoot over in Calgary. Stages were tough but fair. Great bunch of guys as well. Calgarians hardly ever lynch guys from Ontario.

I thought that since CZ USA sold a CZ Custom gun with a competition hammer installed, that this made the comp. hammer SSP legal for all CZ75B variants (including the 85 and the SP-01 Shadow).

Am I mistaken?

CZ USA is not OEM.

No that is not true. CZ USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of CZ UB.

The competiton hammer is found on the CZ Custom SP-01 which has been deemed legal. Here is the reply I received from Robert Ray with my question attached:

CZ USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of CZUB of the Czech Republic. The company makes a “Competition” hammer for the 75/85 Series of pistols including the SP-01 Series which you have deemed to be a variation of the 75B. Would installing this hammer be legal for SSP? The hammer design is available on the SP-01 Custom that you have deemed legal. I believe this falls to the same ruling made on the extended mag release standard on Glock 34/35’s which can be installed on other models of the Glocks.

Bob,

1. If the hammer is used on a production gun, it can be used in SSP.

Thank you,

As a matter of interest if you want to order 400 CZ85 Combats they can be ordered with the Competion hammer from CZ USA. The part comes in a CZ USA package.
