I need a Canadian source for Berdan large rifle primers. Does anyone know of a source in Canada?
I tried my local gunshop, which is very good at getting just about anything and at reasonable prices. He said there was a supplier, back east, listing them. That was a couple of months ago. Nada yet.
:(

I think that may be where my local dealer ordered them from. Is North Sylva, open for the common man or do you have to be a dealer?

So why the berdan primers? Are you reloading old Military brass? Isn't it a pain to get out the old primers? If you are totally stuck couldn't you either remove the anvil from a standard primer, or from the primer pocket on the case?

Berdan are large diameter and shorter.

I'm now retired and have lots of time. Actually, I don't know how I found time to go to work. Needless to say, it's surprising how much working for a living, makes up such an enormous part of our lives. It was necessary though, or I wouldn't be able to enjoy a decent, early retirement.
I really hate, wasting good brass. You get that way as you age. Now that time is basically, easier to come by, I can utilise some of the brass. Some of these cases, run $70/hundred in boxer form. Yes, I know, they can be reloaded. So can the berdan cases and with not all that much extra effort. I seldom, go out and shoot up more than 50 or 60 rounds anymore. Rimfires are another story. So if I can lay in a decent supply of berdan primers, I can utilise the cases I have and save the initial investment, with already, fireformed cases.

"...Berdan large rifle primers..." No such thing. Berdan primers come in assorted diameters, not large and small rifle, if you can find 'em.
"...not all that much extra effort..." Great deal of extra effort.
"...couldn't you either remove the anvil..." Nope. A boxer primer won't fit in a berdan primer pocket.

Ok thanks sunray. I think I got it. I needed the sledgehammer effect to drive the point through my thick skull. Cuz the decisive explanations from CanAm and the original poster Bearhunter just weren't doing it. Damn its tough being a monosyllabicwretch cuz I just had it and now I've lost it again. Has anyone seen the point?!

Oh ya! Bearhnter needs a Canadian source for berdan primers.
Wish I could help, if you find a source let me know cuz I have a load of brass 7.62x54R surplus cases I've been holding onto for a rainy day.
