We'll we're back and we've learned alot since the last multi-gun.

I look forwards to seeing you! Sometimes it seems more fun designing the CoF than actually shooting it.... Who am I kidding. It's always fun when you get to shoot!

Wow... It looks like we are going to have a phenominal weekend for weather.

Add to it that The Gun Centre has donated a pair of gift certificates to Galt's ODPL crew for the match to be raffled off to participants Looks to be the makings of a great day of putting lead downrange!!

It was a very sunny and hot day.

I thank you for setting up this match, but I'm sorry to say that this 3 gun show didn't do it for me. Unless I won the raffle for the gift certificates, but thats not why I came out, nor do I feel lucky. :p

I've heard the standard "when you organize a match, you can set it up any way you want", "all range time is good" and "I'm the RO I can do whatever I want". -- No problem there.
RO, or not, I paid my $40. and I didn't enjoy the match so I'm going to tell you about it, just like I do when I have hordes of fun and perhaps shoot the CofF a second time for the fun of it.

Anyway ...

ENOUGH with the damn clay pigeons as static targets, I get enough of static shooting off the bench. If you're going to use clay pigeons, use them for something creative like simulating door hinges on a shotgun stage, not earrings on IDPA targets shot with a carbine.

Bowling pins on strings ... a row of steel plates ... cans on a stick ... all static shooting.

On a positive note, I think your decision to run a hot pistol range this time was a good move. I feel more can go wrong with loading and unloading than a loaded and holstered gun. I hope we keep it that way.

BTW, I never got an answer to why some of us had to wait a half hour at 0800h at a locked gate while you and several shooters were already on the range?

ETA: For those who have shot the course while others are waiting to do so, I don't want to know where the targets are which you didn't see to shoot. Kind of ruins the stage.

Sorry that you didn't feel it challenged you Easy. We'll strive to do better next time. As for criticism, I welcome it all.

Considering that cardboard targets are static targets as well.... Yet I understand your train of thought and we'll take it into account in future COF designs. Clays are new to us, and yes we did use them heavily on a single stage (the only stage in fact). The issue is that we currently have few, if any, sorts of moving targets at Galt. No Swingers, no running man, no drop-twists, etc... We are looking at getting more however (We have a trio of can launchers now). You also won't need to worry about the static cans anymore The last of them were shot to hell and beyond in the match. :p

As for realistic scenarios and real life encounters, unless you are in the military or on some SWAT like group odds of being done up in Tac Gear, with multiple AR mags, a few dozen shotgun rounds dispersed amongs your tactical harness, is pretty slim. Hence why we actually have multigun events, cause it's sometimes fun to dress up in a harness.

I do agree about the solve it mentality, and I do it moreso with handgun only matches. I don't really know why I do it less so in the multigun, but again stuff to take into consideration. As for what the squaddies comment on when they are not the active shooter, tell them to STFU and stop defeating the fun aspect of the game (Not knowing what is upcoming).

At Galt we have ALWAYS used every hit on a no Shoot with the current crew (so the last several years), you just never noticed because you only hit them once. :)

As for the gate. No Idea. I came in @ 7:15am and had to use a code and was under the impression it was automatic on Sundays (Public Shotgun day). Nor do I know how to lock it open, otherwise I would have.

I won't lie, I made up the CoF literally a week before the posting went up, I went for a simple setup knowing that our manpower would be less than desired. That the final match design was less than satisfactory to you, I take full responsibility as it was my design. As I said however, I'll take all your comments and critiques and hopefully be able to use them towards the next and future matches.

Who's the ahole? :stirthepot2: You should've told the RO and he should've got a procedural penalty.

I hope you're not offended Jarlath but I also think the course could've been slightly more realistic and exciting. Then again with a more complex course design it also requires much longer setup/patch/takedown time. I was glad we finished relatively on schedule and 2 hour squads didn't turn into 4 hour squads all of a sudden.

That being said, I know you're just getting back to multigun after a year of absense so I will continue look forward to the next one. :D

That's how it's done in ODPL. One of the few scoring differences from IDPA. Having said that, we really should put it in the rules for next year for clarity.
