You'll want to lube any bottleneck cartridges. I use the spray lube when reloading 223. Just give a large container a couple squirts, shake it around for around 25 seconds, and that's all you need. I'm still on my first bottle after 3 years and probably 5k+ rounds.

You have to lube, even with carbide dies. Or else, you'll have a stuck case in your die.

Yes, Lee collet dies.

But they size the neck only, eventually you will need to full length size and for this you'll need lube.

Dillon makes carbide dies. $139.95US per set. $114.95US for the sizer die alone. Lube is still required though. So the answer is no.

alright, I was just wondering, Whats the point of carbide bottle necked dies if you still have to lube? Seems silly.

I don't use lube when neck sizing,and I have never had an issue.When full length resizing,I use lube.

What lube are you using? I have about 1000 .223 rem that I picked up at the range that need to be FLS. I have a can of that Hornady One Shot stuff. Is that what you are using?

I use the dillon stuff.

I'm sure any of the spray case lubes work just fine though.

I just tried the Redding resizing wax (or whatever it's called) while doing some .223 the other night and it is pretty slick. As long as there is some on your fingers when you grab the case and kind of roll it between them on the way to the press, you are good to go. I only did about 150 at the time so it might not be the greatest test.

Smoother than steel, you can use less lube, and the life span is indefinite.

Put 200 cases in a large heavy plastic bag, add 1.5-2" strip of RCBS Liquid Lube in the bag. Create a "balloon" with the bag, shake and roll for 1 minute.

Voila, 200 cases nicely lubed and ready for sizing.

Another vote for Redding wax. Looks like a little can of lip balm. You need very little, I have used it for thousands of .223 and hundreds of .270, and I am only on my third can.

I have been using the Redding/Imperial sizing die wax for years too, though not as fast to use as a spray it is an excellent lube and the can will last for years even with high volume shooters.

Moove-It spray lube on a rag or lube pad works great. It goes on easy, cleans up easy, and doesn't have any nasty chemicals in it. Oh and it's cheap too.

I use Quaker state SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil for advanced engine...and it worked perfect. LOL
