I was wondering if I can bring bullets from the USA to Canada? It states that you can bring 5000 rounds but does this include projectiles?

Thanks for any help.

100% no.

Canada doesn't care. 5000 loaded is fine.

Department of Homeland Security, BATF, and Department of State do.

Think of :
1. At minimum a 5000.00 fine for a first offence
2. Detention/Jail
3. Vehicle confiscation
4. Ban from ever entering the USA again (even a stopover on a jet, you are on their no fly list too)

In short. No optics except non enhanced binoculars/spotting scopes
No ammunition, or components thereof (powder primer brass, hulls, wads lead shot, etc)
No firearm PARTS including magazines.

Although magazine loaders are ok. Maglula etc.

Yup as stated above Canadian customs only worries about our laws and regulations. A friend of mine came back with some ammo but was lucky and wasn't pulled over by the Americans or he'd have been pooched. Last time I was down with my wife ,daughter and her friend we were pulled over before going to Canada customs by the Americans and questioned plus had a light search done on the vehicle so it is not worth the risk to bring across prohibited items.

Two years ago I went down to Spokane for a weekend. On the way south I stopped at Canada customs and asked about bringing bullets back, answer was "no problem". then when I got to US customs I asked the same question, same answer. I brought back abd declared bullets without any problem. After I got home I read the same info given above about export permits. Thru no fault of my own I could have been in deep ca-ca!

Yep, you really can't rely on what the "officials" tell you. You really have to look after your own best interests and do some research. Good going to the OP for asking first before taking the chance.

"...What about American citizens..." Citizenship makes no difference. Different thing if an American is coming here to hunt or attend a match though. Then our firearm possession laws kick in.

I ordered a bunch of nosler seconds last year, I did the paper work on my end with his help and he did his and it went very well, Im not sure if the laws changed since then.

What about American citizens doing it?

No difference because it's a U.S. export regulation. If they are brining up ammo to use here legitimately (hunting, target shooting etc...) it's okay. But they would have to have the proper paperwork etc.. to come up. If they show up at the border with a bunch of ammo but no gun/paperwork it would be a no go on the Canadian side.

I did that too with Reloading International, that is the legal way and it was easy to do.

would not have needed a loop hole if our government had just applied for an exemption to the itar regs, when they were told of them. the export thing is not all US fault here most of the blame lies in our expectation of our government to do what we want it to do.
i'm not sure who was in power at the time, but i do know they had the chance to be exempt from a lot of stupid regs/rules and just said no thanks.

You can thank Jean Chretien and the Liberals. Mur

I go down to the states at least 1x every 2 months, been doing this for years and have never been stopped by the US side. I have a magpul decal, leupold decal on my window...nothing has ever happened. I would never bring anything back illegal but find it strange Ive never been searched. I find the Canadian guards total pricks though.
