I decided to buy both these clones off ebay, pretty damn cheap to say the least. Anyway Im putting them on an SR-22 so it's just a cheap solution, but I'd say a pretty good setup overall. (Hopefully)

For the guys that bought them, are they decent? Hard to imagine them being any good based on how much they cost. Seller says its an all metal body, etc. etc. I thought I'd give them a try, and again because it's going on a 22 I figured they'd hold up.

Opinions, the sellers name was locke_109 and he has an excellent trader rating.

I have a knock-off magnifier I picked up that I use as a pocket scope for hunting. I mounted it on my deer gun for one season, but use it regularly for light spotting. It is built well enough and I have used it in some pretty s**tty conditions, but it's never seen any heavy use (aside from a dozen or so slugs). On your .22 I don't see it being too much of a problem.

I'd be hesitant to rely on it on a carbine, but I wouldn't be surprised if it held up.... would be equally surprised if it exploded into a million pieces of confetti as well.

Yeah I never understood why guys would spend all that money on there AR's and then put these cheap knock off sights on. They are designed for airsoft which is why I think they would be great for a 22, even .17

probably because they just can't justify spending that kind of money on a set of optics that will never leave the confine of a range ;)

I picked up the Fakepoint and equally fake 3x Magnifier to put on my Norinco CQ AR ( how appropriate actually ! ) and I was (and am) very pleasantly surprised as they both work really well. OK, the red/green dot is a bit big but it works just fine and doesn't move about and the 3x magnifier is actually really good - we had some fun at the range passing it around with a buddy's real Aimpoint 3x and the consensus was that it was pretty hard to tell which was which.

In my view, some of these knock off's work pretty good while others are just junk - when I buy them it is either for fun - "mmm, that will look cool" or to see if I like the concept before splashing out real money. Honestly I have used enough real and now fake red dots to have formed the opinion that for my shooting (from bench at fixed ranges) I wouldn't buy the real deal as I prefer good scopes to red-dot stuff but if you are not sure whether they will be what you want then drop a hundred and see if you like the idea.

..I know more than a few guys that run fakepoints, and have had no problems. I know a couple that have had them on AR's for years with no issues. Most of the engineering on these is to survive combat, if all you're doing is punching paper or plugging gophers, that side is likely not needed.

I know one guy that did his tour overseas with a fake Eotech.. probably one of the few fakies that aided in kills. Pretty good for $50. Personally I wouldn't take the chance, others would. But I'm an optics whore and enjoy nice glass, even if I'm the only one that notices the difference.

Honestly they work for hacking around and for the occassional range use I see no problem. You're not tack driving with them or depending on them to hold up from mis-treatment in anything more than a range bag.

I use them for playing around to see what works for me. Quality is hit or miss so be sure to buy from a flea-bayer that will accept returns. :pirate:

Those of you who have used them, with good results on AR's, what brand name are they? Are there one or two we should run away from?

Cheers

So I got the Aimpoint ML2 and Magnafier clones in the mail today. Pretty fast shipping considering it came from Hong Kong, about 8 business days.

Well the jurys out on these clones. For the $115 bucks it cost to get both these to my door, wow was it worth every penny... A few points,

-Solid aluminum construction
-Fit & finish is good
-Glass is good

The mounts are as expected, cheap mounts... but they will do the trick. Overall the sight and magnafier look great for the money, they work good and for an SR-22 will be more then adequate. They look so solid that I wouldn't hesitate to use them on a .223 AR. Buy in confidence from ht tp://w ww.airsoftvanguard.com/ great seller and great product over all.

Why buy those when you could purchase a Vortex scope/red dot?

Comes with a warranty that we can take care of here in the store.

Thats actually my backup plan, if these clones don't hold up I will move to a Vortex setup. I had an opportunity to handle the strikefire recently and I was defiantly impressed with the quality and finish. I would not hesitate to use Vortex product on my high end AR... Again, for $100 bucks I think it was worth a shot to try these clones. After all it's only for my SR-22.

BTW I've herd how outstanding Vortex's warranty and customer service is, no argument there.

I have the same set-uo on my Norc CQB and it is still all working really well. In fact, for a while I had the Fakepoint on my M14 when I had it dressed up with a UTG rail and it held up just fine there also. While YMMV my experience is hard to beat.
