I am going to build a dragunov style stock from birch laminate for my Mosin Nagant 91-30. If anyone is interested I can post pics as the project progresses. Or just when it is done. a word of warning although I will get it done it will take a good amount of time this is my first scratch stock. I will answer any questions anyone has to the best of my ability(good luck I don't know Sh*t). But if you like we can learn together from my mistakes(a speciality of mine). So first post : I started today by tracing my mosin on a large piece of cardboard(actualy a recently emptied delisio box) . then I drew the dragunov outline overtop starting with the rear stock. I am now convinced that it can work and not look like a$$. Oh yes anyone who has done this please SPEAK UP. I love to hear from people with some experience or just ideas. Anyway I am off to my J.O.B.. Updated with pictures on last page.

Sporter Mosin stocks...

If he's not cutting, deforming or damaging the rifle and stock its not bubba. If the rifle can return to military specs, I am all for such an esthetics project.

gentlemen please let me explain

I really like my mosin nagant. None of the original fittings, metal or wood are going to be altered. I would however like to find a previously altered mosin for another project. If you guys find a bubba'd mosin please let me know.

gentlemen I have a small update

I bought the wood today and the template is finished I would post pics but uncut plywood and cardboard are not terribly entertaining. I have some prelim sketches that I will put up as soon as I can. Hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go.

The inletting was done on the manual mill at work with router bits and endmills. This whole job was easy and simple the only hard bit was getting the rear action screw hole at the right angle.

Not too much, maybe 10 hours, I could do it faster now. my best advice is that you need as many clamps as you can lay hands too. Also a jig saw or bandsaw will make the job easier. I think the plywood was 18.00 at home depot it is arctic birch I believe. The glue was gorilla glue. If you have questions let me know. I made the mistake of cutting the holes in the butt stock in too big of a hurry and the proportions are off. happy cutting.
