What round do you use in your 10/22?

AWOL- I was kidding about the "ammo defect" it was shooter error for sure.

I did notice something strange though, with the ejected brass... There was a "back burn" type mark on them, like the round wasn't seating properly in the chamber/barrel, allowing residue to burn back around the casing... it was strange, I've never seen that before.

Any thoughts?

Never seen that but I've never looked that closely at my ejected brass. Sounds like a chamber defect or something. Take a few to the gun shop and ask them.

Your 100 yrd target looks a bit scattered. What are you using for optics. I shot like that with my old Tasco. The pattern I showed on the first page is using a Burris on the same gun. Optics is everything.
 
It could be the optics. It may also be either a) The gun sliding in the range bags as its fired, thus shifting its POI slightly, or b) inconsistent velocity of the ammo. Inconsistent velocity leads to vertical stringing at distance.
 
CCI Stinger exclusively now.

I used some Remington rimfire stuff (can't remember what type) and it was crap!! Every 3 or 4 rounds would be a dud and the amount of fouling from the powder was amazing - took me an hour just to clean all the crap out.

Very consistent and accurate stuff. I'm shooting a standard 10/22 (not a target or anything special) with a 4x Bushnell scope.
 
CCI Velocitor/Stinger to hunt depending on the range. CCI Blazer and Winchester Bulk 36grn For plinking. The Winchester prints a pretty horrible grouping though.
 
AWOL- Yeah I'll be taking my 10/22 to the place of purchase on Thursday. I'm using a 3-9x40 Bushnell rimfire scope that was $52 and recommended by the guys there. I wasn't really trying to group, I was just flingin lead at 100m and seeing what I could do. I'll get some pics of the strange powder burn I'm talking about.


Pic below (They all have the burn on one half of the casing, I just had the burnt side showing on half, and the normal side showing on the other half for comparison)

I have never seen that before. To me, it would appear that the chamber is a bit out of spec. My guess it that this is some leakage (blow back) from the combustion. Either that or cheap ammo. What was that you used?
 
I was using Remington Cyclone in the picture above- every casing was marked like those. I cleaned Canadian Tire out of their 50 round boxes of Blazer yesterday :) 12 boxes of it... $2.84/ea... not bad.
