Hello, I was looking at buying my first shotgun. I am interested in hunting turkeys and deer. I was recommended the Mossberg 535 Combo Shotgun at the gun shop because of its versatility and ability to change the chokes and barrels with ease. Id like to know if anyone has any opinions, good and bad about the 535 and any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks!!

I really liked mine....very versatile and you'll have the ability to hunt almost anything with it.

I got mine for $500 plus taxes....even cheaper if you buy used. Pretty decent gun for the money, excellent value IMO

Did you get the combo for $500 or just the gun? The cheapest combo I can find anywhere in canada is around $580. where'd you get it??

I got mine from Grech's Outdoors here in Ontario.

But it was on special at the time. The one thing I would caution you about is the plastic ribbing on the pump...it can be known to crack.

Epps has the 535 3 Barrel for $556.19. I got my 500 combo there, I am very happy with it, great value.

You can listen to Fuse if you want, but I got a few other as well :), another Mossberg 500 actually, I love them that much. Only complaint is the forearm wobble. I actually just completed my experimental cure for this. I think I read it somewhere, I took one of those felt pads you stick to chairs so they don't ruin your floor and cut 3 small pieces and put them in the forearm slide. It works but adds a bit of resistance when pumping.

Other than the forearm wobble these guns are like tanks.

smacdonald a sponsor on this site sells the 500 and 3 barrel combo for $469.99. My brother and dad both own one and they are the same as the 535 just no 3.5" shells.

I bought a 535 and I've fired about 400 trap loads, 20 sabot slugs, some turkey shot with no hiccups whatsoever. Hardly ever use 3.5" so I could of got by with the 500......
