Canada only had 123 ferrets and we drove them hard. Our hubs ended up modified with some different internals because of the wear. The brits, on the other hand, had thousands of the ferrets and rotated them through different theaters and overhaul shops. I have seen Brit ferrets with very little miles on them, which had been held in storage for decades.Going on 40 yrs ago we were having a b*itch of a time keeping the Ferrets mobile on account of the wheel hubs and parts thereof. I don't imagine the spare parts situation has improved mutch since then.![]()
I got the best of both worlds about a decade back when I transplanted a complete Brit Ferret powertrain into a Cdn hull. I had the nostalgia of owning a Cdn ferret (ours were all very early production mk1s) with the fresh powertrain components of a British mk2.
