No, it is for the standard no32 scope. Still very desirable.
Umm, I may be confused... but wasn't the No.8 rifle the .22 trainer LE?
The case seems to indicate it?
And I've heard a lot about the No 32 scope for the 303 rifles , but how about a No 22 scope? Maybe this case was for the scope for the 22 LE? I never heard of it, but we've had THIS kicking around the house for dog's years.
It looks like all the adjusting hardware and mounting brackets and stuff is long gone, but they would mount on the bare brass sections I think? Missing the rubber for the eyepiece for sure.
Strange thing for sure, but too cool to get rid of... BUT... Oldlithgow, if this IS the case for my weirdo scope, would you consider selling it?

The 22 scope was a direct sight, as used on the various artillery pieces and on the Bofors 40mm My bofors has two of them. The 22s are not worth much, since there are far more scopes around than there are artillery pieces.
The no8 can is for the #32 scopes. The no18 can was for the TP scope.

Whaleoilbeefhooked. Well.. who would ever think they put scopes on a Bofors gun...always thought they used like an iron sights thing...looks like a big spiderweb. And artillery I thought was done with angles and inclination instruments.
Anywyas...obviously not a 22 lee enfield scope!!

You are right on the spiderweb sights, they used those for aircraft. And you are right on the angles and inclinations for artillery, they used those for directed fire from a FOO thru the Battery command post.. But for direct fire (ie a tank or gun emplacement that is visible to the crew) they used the no22 sight. The Bofors, as with most guns, could also be used for direct ground fire, and was quite effective at it.

I was a mechanic myself, but got attached to the artillery for the last 7 years of my career. As well, there were always C1 howitzers about at the various shops and armouries I worked at thru my career.
Right on Sten... geezus... all you guys on here know way more than I possibly can remember...Altheimers creeping up on me I think! Anyways...glad I re-joined the gunnutz crew. Been too long I've been out of the sport.
Speaking of which, we're just getting ready to head up to the camp for a few days. Going to sight in buddy's new SKS from LeBaron for deer season... myself bringing that POS old rusty IJ carbine I bought about a month back. Just to see if the SOB even fires. Got me a box and a bit of old Rem-UMC FMJ stuff. Woohoo!
