1911 Magazines

I've been running Wilson's, 10 round power mags (only recently), and MecGar magazines. For the money, I'd stock up on the MGs with baseplates. No issues, plastic followers are soft on the feed ramp, and they come with string springs. Great fit and finish, and can be found at Marstar. I love my Wilson's, but I had to jump through hoops. Good luck!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ATC mags sold by Freedom or DLask. I have 5 and none ever caused any issues.
Wilson Combat are good mags BUT if you drop them in dirt, sand, grass - you have much greater chances of dirt getting inside due to their windows' design.

In a 1911 it'd be Wilson or MecGar for me. I've tried the Shooting Stars and wasn't too impressed with them in terms of build quality, some even failed to lock the slide back but I've never had such an issue with Wilson or MecGar mags. FWIW, not in 1911 but I've used ACT mags in a Sig 220 and was very impressed with their quality and functionality. YMMV.........

I wasdropping my Wilsons and McCormick Mags in the mud all day about a week ago stepped on a couple of them.No issues with the mags.Just gave them a couiple of taps
wiped the mud off with my hand and reloaded. It was pissing on us all day and were running the guns in the rain and dropping them all day.Only malfunction I had was 10 round Wilson and that could have been a bad taper crimp one of my hand loads.
not a single issue with any 8 rounder Wilson And McCormick.

where are they for that price?

the website has blued 8 rounders for $25 and stainless for $28

I'll be damned... I just took a look and, as you say, they went up. By about $10 each! I bought them a matter of weeks ago (maybe 3 weeks?) and they were $14.99 (blue) and $18.99 (stainless). Maybe their supplier bumped their price, maybe they were overdue for an adjustment, who knows?

Anyway, that's my mistake, and sorry for any confusion! Anyone here actually know exactly when the change was? I bought mine in mid-August so it must have been REALLY recent. 3 of them for like $65, taxes in. Wish I'd bought way more of them =P

Looks like the Dlask mags went back down in price... not all the way back to where they were, but maybe worth checking out. $17 blue, $22 stainless. I think I'll be buying a few more just in case there are any other wild fluctuations in the pipe!

I've tried almost all of the higher end or well known brands and the best I've found are Kimber Pro Tac mags in stainless. They come with two sizes of bumper pads for your preference. They work in every 1911 I've shot and they are easy and smooth to load. YMMV
