I like the feel of the Ruger rifle, and scope mounts are a bonus. The Remington is nice but that's a pretty whippy barrel. Great cartridge though. The Vangaurd is a newer model I've never handled. I owned one in .338 and another in .300 wby. Both were very accurate but a little heavy. I know the BC is supposed to be lighter, but doesn't it have a very short barrel?

pretty light for a 300 Winny though......I'd get one in 7mm Rem Mag and shoot 160's...less recoil.....and that'll do 99% of what a 300 Win/180 combo will do....

im going with the 300winnie in ruger black laminate hawkeye, i do have a little bit to change mind on calibre, but i tried one out yesterday and the others and it was crying for a bottle of milk.

going to top it with a LEUPY VX3 3.5X10X40 in matte black. At least the hard part is over, and i did treat myself to a ###xxy as hell new ruger 10/22 in grey/Blue laminate with blued metal at P&D yesterday

no had the 24 inch fluted barrel on the Backcountry
