I did some searching but could not find out if this version of the XCR is available in Canada in .223?

I hope so too .Downside is that all XCR's may be reclassified as restricted if the upper and lowers interchange between the XCR rifle and the XCR CQB

It's actually not the upper - as I understand it (and I've been wrong before) it's just the barrel that's shorter. Since you can (theoretically) change any barrel (on any gun) for a shorter one it would logically make sense that person A could have a non-res XCR and person B could have a restricted one. However, we are dealing with the same lab that took 18 months to make a rifle "easily" converted to F/A and won't say how, so the odds are that theory and logic got sh*t canned long ago.

Please forgive my ignorance but how would bringing in that version of the XCR make ALL of the XCR's restricted ?

Even if the uppers interchange wouldnt it simply be restricted by barrel length ? ie you have a 7.5 inch barrel it would be restricted however with your 18.5 inch barrel you would be non restricted ?

They have the 16" Socom m1a which is restricted and the 22" inch barrel Norinco m1a which is non restricted . They havnt classified all m1as restricted just because one version has a shorter barrel .

The theory is that since you don't really need a gunsmith to swap the barrels, the gun can go back and forward between categories. The Firearms Act is so poorly written that going from an 18.5 to a 12 requires you to inform the CFC "within 30 days" so what happens if you put the 12 on to go shooting but store the rifle with an 18.5 installed. You've effectively caused a real problem for the entire of humanity, because we have statistics that prove semi auto rifles with barrel lengths less than 18.5 inches cause their owners to kill babies, pregnant women, and furry cats (after, of course, sacrificing blood to Baal and profaning whichever official language the owner is less competent in). So you see, it's vital that we keep Robarms barrels shorter than 18.5" long out of the country.

You could always just buy another caliber kit from wolverine, and then send the barrel to ATRS and get them to make you like a 11.5" or whatever you want.

By this "Theory" all T/C Contenders and all T/C Encore's should be restricted as well. You can buy a short barrel and pistol grip over the counter for them.

But those are socially responsible, vegan friendly, single shot firearms that are not capable of causing harm to people - not evil, bloodlusting semi automatics that are designed to kill babies and cause devil worship (just giving you the bureaucratic take on things - direct from the horses *ss).

Wrong
That applies to changing the barrels of Restricted firearms ,Changing a Non restricted firearm to a restricted status makes the Firearm at the worst case a prohibited device. You do not have the 30 day notifaction process if you were to change the barrel it must be done immeaditly upon completion and must be verifed . Changing barrel on a restricted rifle the owner has 30 days in which to notify the CFC

I seriously doubt that. They would need either an act of parliament or an OIC to do that. Reclassifying them all as prohib on the other hand...
