Alberta ??

You must be kidding!

Not at all.;)

Seriously though, having lived there and here, I'd stay away from the far North-East of Albert. Fort Mac is where the money is and if your job takes you there, you can make a pretty good go of it. But if you gotta choice.......

Never been to the Grande Prairie/High River side so I can't comment but it seems from the posters here that that area has some good hunting for both big game and waterfowl.

When we left Fort Mac the only stipulation we had of where to live was "anywhere south of Grasslands". As a waterfowler, I should have stipulated somewhere a little more east of where I am but the fact that I'm watching seven cow elk in my back yard this morning definitely compensates.

Long as you're about 3 hrs away from Calgary/ Edmonton, and about an hour away from: Lethbridge, Medhat, Reddeer, life is good.

I live in the SE and in 2 days we're heading up by Chip. In AB you can hunt pretty much whatever, wherever you what, as long as you're willing to. The only guys that complain are those that live in a big city and think they should be able to hunt everything 10 minutes outside the city limits every year.

Fortunately most of those types don't stray too far from the cities. Well....mostly anyway.

I live near Rocky Mountain House in "west central". Rocky has just about everything you need. It is less than an hour to RedDeer and a couple hours to Edmonton or Calgary.

I can drive to the mountains and be hunting there for sheep, elk deer and bear in a little over an hour. A couple hours drive east and south and I am on the prairies hunting Antelope.

Trout fishing is good close to home and walleye and pike fishing is not too far of a drive.

I would think that life would be good in Edson/Hinton, Drayton Valley/ Rocky,
Sundre/Water valley/Cermona.

If I could, I would live near Medicine Hat, spring seems to come their a lot sooner than in Edmonton, and fall seems to last a lot longer. I have been hunting pheasants in mid October and it was in the 20's, almost too warm.A lot more upland bird hunting and good waterfowling right into Dec. Only draw back from living way down south is the summer time heat. FS
