Can you shoot shotgun shells that are shorter than the actual chamber length? For example can I shoot a 2.5" shell in a chamber made for 3" Shells.

I know the reverse is very dangerous and can ruin you gun, but it got me thinking and I am new to the shotgun realm of things.

Please Help!!

You can use them, but finding 2.5" shells these days is damn near impossible unless you reaload. Just shoot 2.75" if you want to save money.

I believe what you mean is can I shoot 2 3/4" in a 3" chamber. By all means go ahead. Like another poster said, if it's a semi, it may not cycle.
