#### hit the fan CZ Rusted barrel

Niko, take it from a fellow greek & go and shoot it. I had the same thing happen to mine. Scrubbed the crap out of it with a brush on the end of a cordless drill. Nothing! Brought it to the range with the intention of shooting it for one last time and then selling it for half-price on EE. 10 rounds, chummy. 10 rounds and the bore was as pretty as the day she was first machined. ;)

Giasou rei Panayoti, I been thinking about going out but with collage and everything a###. I just need to stop the rust from progressing any further until I have some time to hit the range.

What are the side affects of shooting it with rust in the bore?

To stop the rust from progressing any further, you need to soak a patch in hot soapy water a clean your bore, dry, then clean with a bronze brush and use oily patches a per usual. Next time you shoot corrosive, do the same thing.

x 2 on the Boresnake.

I got some serious rust out of an old Enfield barrel with Hoppes #9, a Boresnake and many, many repetitions. There was very slight pitting in my barrel afterwards but the rust was completely gone. Plus they are great to have in your range kit, much easier than running patches and a brush.

I got my bore snake around here somewhere. I think I put it in the wash the other day so it should be good to go.

Put a plastic cap or tight-fitting baggy on the end of the barrel and then fill the barrel with WD40 or whatever crap you have. Leave the barrel in a vertical position 'till you're ready to shoot it. That'll stop any further rusting.

Ti kani to poulaki sou? :p

Kerosene stops the rust, but doesn't prevent it. So you can fill the barrel with kerosene instead of wd40 until the time you can go shoot the thing.

Then shoot the thing, then clean it properly. And then send it to Sean at Rauch Tactical for some TLC. Best 150 bucks I've ever spent.

Okay guys I got some progress reports.

I tried the 30.06 bore copper brush it did nothing to the rust even after soaking in wd-40

So I picked me up a 357 mag copper brush and it has removed about 60-70% of the rust...I am sure it can take out more but I need another brush and to soak it in some more wd-40

I am going to go out to our fav shooting spot this weekend if my buddy is up to it and I plan to put about 200 rounds down the barrel but first I will go pick up another two or 3 357 mag brushes as they fit just nicely down the bore.

not to tight but just perfect.

I got the perfect thing for CZ rust problems through trial and error. On my CZ858 i use Hoppes #9, this strong solvent will break up and remove virtually everything and scrub with your copper bristles/wires and the such, I also patch through with Windex, it works amazing! and I'm using it every time on the CZ especially after shooting corrosive ammo, I repeat these two procedures until the bore is super shiney then patch through some soaked patches of gun lubrication oil such as remington oil or G96. Don't use these oils when your cleaning, use Hoppes #9 or anything similar or else you will be scrubbing that bore foreverr!

Well well, i have heard so many rust remidies I did mistake the CLR goof.........however I have never let my barrel rust......ever......

Sorry, no way!

If the rust has already started, Hoppes #9 does jack. If you're talking preventive maintenance, then yeah, Hoppes is great. Just like any other solvent, far as I'm concerned.

I let Hoppes soak in the barrel of my rifle for 2 days, it didn't do $hit. Afterwards, I used the solvent in conjunction with a cordless drill and brass brush. Balls across the nose.

Firing 10 rds thru the sum##### fixed the bore and made her all purdy again. Period! ;)
