I am debating on whether to pick up the 535 or the 500. From what I gather is that the only difference is that the 535 will accept 3.5" shells and the 500 will not. Also the 535 is only offered in sporting models (which doesnt matter because thats what I want). Is there any other differences between them? Is it really worth the extra $100 for it? Thanks for your time everyone!

PS I would be getting the 3 barrel combo

I sold my 535. I had one that had both the 3.5 waterfowl barrel and the slug barrel.

I didn't like the extra long stroke required to accomodate 3.5" shells. Other than that, it seemed ok, but no better than a regular 500.

I dont necessarily need a 3.5" shell. I don't know a whole lot about hunting but I figure if a 3" shell wont kill something then a 3.5" shell isnt gonna make a whole lot of difference...

i love my 535 .you do not have to shot the 3.5s if you do not want to .i found that the 5325 did not have the same rattel the 500s did when closed .great shotgun DUTCH

The 500 has more barrel options the 535 u get only 24" slug 28"vr blued or camo. The 535 has a shorter mag tube and the reciever is longer that's bout it. I have both love em both

This is not true. Ellwood Epps sells them in a combo - 24" slug, 24" smooth bore, and the 28". Same with wolfs den sporting supplies.

The 500 as aftermarket you can get 18.5" plain 20" plain 24"vr with chokes 28"vr with chokes roadblocker rolling thunder and 24" rifled barrels in blue and camo. The 535ats doesn't not have the shorter smooth barrel options unless you cut one down. I've even been in contact wit mossberg for a 18.5" plain blued barrel for the 535 they said buy the 28" and cut it or get the 500

if you dont need to shoot 3-1/2" sticks then buy the 500, theres more accessories / barrels available for it and as stated earlier a shorter stroke
ask your shoulder if it wants to shoot the 3.5", alot more steel flying out of them but do you really need it?

is it possible to make the 535 into a tactical defensive gun?

i cant seem to find folding stocks, tube extenders, short barrels, etc
