Gun rests

What are folks using for gun rests and what would you recommend??


Need to get something quality for load development and sighting in. Cost won't be a factor.

If you want the best of the best, the SEB and Farley rests are at the top of this food chain. Visit 6mmBR.com and look in their gear section. Any Benchrest site will also offer other options.

Now if you don't feel like spending that much money, the most useable rests are the Caldwell Rock and BR Rock line up. I have not used the Caldwell joystick version so can't say.

For shooting at the range, the Caldwell rock AND proper protektor bags will work really well.

The BR Rock if you are shooting prone and need more height in the front.

The bags provided are not good enough. protektor is the most accessible and serviceable.

The best bags are from Edgewood. I think SEB makes their own???? Not sure about Farely. Don't use this stuff.

Take a look at the Sinclair rests. I suspect that I am going to go that route.

Want to move beyond a bi pod.

As soon as all my firewood is in for the Winter, I will lock myself in the lathe cave and make 1 rear rest for Troy, but you have to promise NOT to use it against me.

Enjoy the child now, they grow up way to fast.
