I'm an American that lives in USA and applied for my PAL / RPAL . The board received and started to process my paper work on Jun 26, 2010. Took the class in Windsor, Ontario and passed all tests. Sent everything in , two background checks local city and state, passed tests , and check in Canadian currency. The board interviewed two of my references , myself, but not my wife. Its 10 + weeks later and still no update on the RCMP site other then its being processed. Is this normal or should I call and enquire. I was asked about why I would want to take a handgun to Canada. I said I compete at shooting events with Canadians that come over the border all the time and wanted to shoot at some of Canada's competition or training events. Also want to hunt in Canada with the long arms. Maybe they didn't call my wife because I don't live in Canada? Do I just wait some more or call?

Just give them a call, it puts you on the top of the pile. I waited for 4 months and it was magically approved and issued the day after I called.

What ever they say on the web site add 30 days. You can check your status here.

Yes call for sure. Usually after they do the interviews they approve right away. Not sure on the process for US residents however I don't see why it would be a big deal.

I had to wait about the same time before I had mine............in the mean time, take the time to realise how fortunate you guys are, down south, and do something to support gun ownership in the states.
