red dot on a ruger 10/22?

I've got an old school tasco pro point I use on my 10/22 and it works great, mind you I only use it for silhouettes/gongs though.

Anyone online sell that exact bushnell scop the OP linked to? The local sporting goods stores around here sell some bushnell products but not that exact one. I want one that fits in a very specific way and that one looks like it will fit the bill nicely.

LeBaron p56 of their catalog, it's on the bottom right, CODE: 73-0135 PRICE: $115.45

Just noticed this thread, guess I'm spending too much time staring at .17 HMRs on the EE

When I got my 10/22 a couple of years back, I knew I wanted a red dot, but thought I'd need a BIT of magnification. I put Google to work, and found this "Hammers 2X" red dot sight, and it's been excellent, especially for the money. http://store.4yourgun.com/ha2xreddotsc.html At the time, they didn't ship to Canada, so I had it sent to a friend in Florida. Eventually, it found it's way to me. Came with battery, scope caps...I even like the size of it, a little more "business" like.

I had some photos of it uploaded to photobucket already, so here you go;

Looking down the business end..

I got the 10/22 as a plinker/future bird hunter myself, so the red dot made perfect sense. Good luck with your decision!

Nice looking rig, how is it on them grouse?:)

I couldn't wait until the optics came in for a VTR so I bought a $50 Tasco red dot at Canadian Tire. In all of my years of shooting I had never used this type of sight. What a blast.
I sighted it in at fifty meters from a bench and unless your a hardcore paper puncher it is certainly accurate enough for most .22 uses.

I wouldn't say so, the one I have keeps turning off when I discharge my SR.

I would go with a Tasco Propoint or other equivalent red dot myself. Or even a compact scope of some sort. I just put on a NCStar 4x30 that works great. The name is not the best in the business, but works for killing partridge and other small game.

They must make them at different levels of quality because I have read that people love them and people hate them. This is the case with so many things on this site. It's hard to gauge when something is worth buying or not. I wasn't sure my Archangel kit for my 10/22 would be any good because some people hated it and some loved it. I love it. Same with some NCStar products, some are garbage some are good. I bought the NCStar M4 quad rail and it is made of great quality steel and fits like a glove.

Anyway, my Aimpoint clone has been flawless and I have been using it on an M4 not a 10/22. I used to have it on my Roni conversion shooting 9mm out of it and recently put it on my M4. I'd say about 300 rounds of 9mm and 600 rounds .223 and still no battery change or no loss of zero. I know that's only 900 rounds but for a .22 that would probably translate to 10,000 rounds. I would highly recommend a good Aimpoint clone on a 10/22 :p.......

My M4 and my Archangel 10/22.......

I think I might go buy this tasco red dot before going to the range tomorrow ... man this SR22 is so much fun to build lol

I know a few people that have bought the Tasco red dot from Canadian Tire for $49.99 and love it. Especially for a .22 you can't go wrong.

Canadian Tire says you can use it for Shotguns up to 3" shells and .357 magnum pistol. LOL

I am actually thinking of switching my red dot to my Archangel and putting the carry handle back on my M4 with a scope on top of it. I don't plan on shooting my .22 past 100m too often but I would like to do that with the M4 so it only makes sense.

Best part, Canadian Tire offers a life time exchange warranty and does the exchange in store without zero hassles. I know my local gun shop would never do that and tell you to ship it to tasco yourself!
