lee die is dead

I was reloading my 308 lee die and taking out the primers when all of a sudden I herd a snap and than the primer rod broke! Just wondering if anyone could help me out if they had any thoughts on what to do? but new set? see what lee has to say?

Some of us are very lucky but not everyone can afford Redding and still shoot as much as they want to. Lee makes very good stuff at a very budget concious price point, and stands behind it 100%. Even Reddings will break decapping rods. I have broke them too, they also ship immediate, no cost with just a phone call.
 
Lee will be good for it but if you want to buy a spare while you wait they are only a couple bucks.

If your dies are like my pistol dies you just need to get the lock nut tension right and the rod will be pushed up rather than break most of the time.

Some of the "premium" dies are nice but when you bust the parts you might be out of commission longer and for more $.
 
I just went through this with a brand new set of Lee dies. I took pictures of the broken de-capper, emailed them through to Lee customer service. I received a reply the next business day and within about two weeks I had my new de-capper in the mail.
 
Maybe you got some of the brass with off center flash holes that I have read about in other posts. I have put lots of brass through a lee die and they have quite stout decapping rods, and I have never broke one. There was a bit of a learning curve for me not to brake the pins in RCBS dies, but I seem to have that beat, by keeping the jam nut tight.. The only other reason to brake them is to have them set too low, then the case is not centered by the die when the pin gets to the flash hole, adjust the rod so that it will just get the primer out of the case with the ram at full height, and you will not have much more problem with priming pins..
 
Yup, spend more money on Redding Dies. Lee dies are junk. My .223 dies only lasted 28 years and only loaded about 25,000 rounds, same with my 9mm dies, man no way should dies wear out after 25 years of hard use. My Lee hand primer crapped out after 15 years after at least 30K rounds. Lee is junk.....:p:p Sorry could not resist to poke some fun. Lee make some really good products and I do use a lot of thier products. They do stand behind anything that fails. They did replace both the .223 and 9mm dies. Both problems were infact MY fault, military brass with crimped primers and trying to resize berdan primed cases without first checking what I had purchased.
 
if it's any quicker, higgenson powders also carries lee parts- and he's great to deal with- i get all my stuff through him
 
All the reloading companies stand behind their products, I wish a lot more industries were like the reloading industry.

Ahmen for the integrity of the companies we get to deal with. It is so rare in todays world it is hard to believe these kind of honorable people still exist anywhere. Long may they be successful and serve as an example to all business about the right way to deal with customers. If enough of the bandits go broke maybe the others will get the message.
