Title says it all.

Not going to lie, this 106mm for restricted firearms law pisses me off. We are missing all the guns with 4" barrels, which is standard length for compact guns.

It also pisses me off to get a chunky gun like a Glock when I cannot take advantage of why it's chunky in the first place (double stack mag).

Closest thing I've found is a 1911 commander, with a 108mm barrel and a 7 rds mag (but it's 45 acp).

That kind of design is, basiclally, retarded.

Which is why you find mostly hacked-up aftermarket abominations rigged to fit the stupidest laws of all in Canadian Firearms Legislation - magazine capacities and barrel lengths.

The STI Ranger II in 9mm or .40 S&W comes with a factory 4.15" (105 mm) barrel. The metalform mag that comes with the pistol holds 9 rounds but you can buy Wilson Combat ETM 1911 9mm mags for it, which hold 10 rounds.

This. I bought a Ranger II in 9mm for this very reason. Quality 10 round mags from companies like Tripp Research, Wilson or CMC have just the basepad sticking out form the butt of the grip, so no wasted grip space on a double stack that doesn't get used.

In .40S&W, the 10 round mags (Tripp seems to be the only company with 10 round .40 mags) will stick out a bit from the bottom of the gun as the mags have to be a bit longer to accommodate the slightly fatter cartridge; the flush-fitting mags are 9 rounds.

Nice combo! I use the Glock 29 subcompact for my 10mm.

Steyr MA1 9mm with a 106 barrel, perfectly legal in Canada and is a sweet gun, the only down side is hard to get parts. I want a 106 at the very beganning but now I like full size more unless it is a mini revolver from NAA.

I thought about the SR9 too, but while its barrel is short, it turns out that overall the pistol is actually bigger than a full size Glock.


Glock 17 total length = 186mm
SR9 = 192mm

G17 weight = 625g
SR9 = 751g

G17 width = 30 mm
SR9 = 32mm

So the SR9 is longer, heavier and thicker than a Glock 17.

I don't expect anything free. All I want is a small 9mm restricted handgun that don't cost over $1000 with a "classic" look. Not like I'm asking for the moon.

cz has a polymer framed pistol with the barrel sticking out as its downsized, forget the model but sure feels good in the hand and is a 106 i believe,
